You really should have been an Elf if you intended to go down the Arcane Archer path. =\

I disagree. Picking the best race/class combo kills a game. Is every arcane archer in the world elven? More often than not I root for the underdog, too.

Keep in mind that rangers in d&d are also great melee fighters, especially if you take the two weapon fighting feat. In my opinion melee combat in DDO is more fun than ranged combat. With the ranger you can test both types of combat and see what suits you.

Wish i wasn't going to Germany and Canada for a week otherwise I'd hop on Khyber and help you out. Human gives you an extra feet when you create the character but Elves have some nice 'slight' enhancements. Ranger gives you two-weapon feet free at level 2 (or it used to). My advice, don't play with anyone who has a Chinese name. They zerg and can't communicate.

i'll make a new character on khyber tonight and head to the meetup tomorrow... i'm playing for free too. have gotten my two allotted (per server) characters to stormreach on argonessen, but really haven't played too often and not with a group yet. i really liked the massive hobbits writeups, i'm on brandywine and see your kin members occasionally. looking forward to maybe being a part of this one.

Or a Brian Fargo fan.

Still, it's pretty cool that you picked that out before you saw my explanation.

What alignment did you choose?

I may be misremembering, but I don't think you have the alignment option when you choose a path at character creation rather than going the fully customized route.

I'm new to DDO and plan to make a cleric on Khyber to join in on the fun.

Excellent :) will be great to follow this :)

I have a cleric and a barbarian on Khyber..both are still in the village. I'm working to get Grimanvil (barb) through the story a bit.

The fantastic thing about DDO is almost all the quests are part of a huge underlying story and all of them fuel each other quite well...The story telling if you take the time to read it and get involved is on a par with Guild Wars...very entertaining.

Maybe I'll see you chaps around Stormreach... Look for Grimanvil or Flintanvil :)

A friend and I are leveling up some new characters on Khyber as well - a level 1 Favored Soul named Truestoryz and a Paladin. We will add you to our friends list and look you up! We are VIP and have no problem putting the guild together.

I'm fairly new to DDO as well and just got some other friends involved, so this should be interesting to keep track of. I'll also see about creating a character over on Khyber to see if I can get involved in the mayhem.

I have an old DDO account that I did not activate before it went free to play. Will it still be there?

I believe it should still be there. My account was created before the relaunch as well and I had no problems. Good luck. :)
