I get so tired of the gaming community in general. People are so quick to down a game. More than they are willing to look at the positives. I was one of the people who bought Crimecraft. It was a good deal imo. I mixes a shooter with some persistent world elements.
I have already gotten my 50 bucks worth and thought it was cool that it was 10 bucks a month. It needs work like all games do and the community is small but I like the game.
I have no doubt the community will get larger now that it is free to play. It will be a very high quality F2P title. I was impressed that the items you can buy were purely cosmetic and hope that they remain that way.
If you don't like the game then fine but remember people worked hard to bring you the game and when you say things like " I doubt it will last" that is something that affects peoples lives. A product they crafted and attempted to entertain you. Just because it doesn't fit your brand of entertainment doesn't mean it has no right to exist.

I played the beta. Graphics were very good. The fact that they had PvE team areas for levelling up as well as PvP areas was very good. I really liked that a lot more than the pure PvP of Planetside. Alas, from a gameplay standpoint, PS was a lot better.

What I disliked was much larger, which is why I didn't buy the game at Best Buy (the only US store which carried it):

(a) all combat was in small instances; the UI for selecting an instance was cumbersome, confusing, and often put level 5 players in with level 30 players, which meant to the poor level 5 players got next to nothing in PvE and were repeatedly slaughtered in PvP. No chance to make friends or plan tactics, you were pitched a short fight and tossed back out again.

(b) game weapons were imbalanced - some were clearly better than others. If you made the wrong choice, you had to remake a new character from scratch (even Champion's retcon system is better than that!). Combine that with a relatively small selection of weapons and equipment and you have a relatively simple game. It compares poorly to the far more varied equipment of Planetside, for example.

(c) voice UI was present, but voice didn't work at all. Nada. So you had to join a gang with a Vent or TS server if you want to be competitive. Game is too fast-paced to make text chat on option during battle.

(d) crafting started off being totally meaningless, but I got the impression that by level 25-30 the benefits were significant enough that those without certain kinds of crafted equipment were at a huge disadvantage.

(e) AIs have specific spawn points all over each map. They WILL respawn behind you, in areas you thought cleared, making life hard for newbies. Experts who memorize the map, its sight lines, and its spawn points clean up rapidly and invariably get the high score. Whether this is good or bad depends on whether [a] you like to deal with new challenges (if so, this game isn't for you) or [b] you like "grind" style FPS that rewards people who fight the same map so long they can play it with their eyes closed (if so, this game IS for you).

(f) Overall number of players, as noted above, has been very small. Going F2P may improve that. Still, probably best to check this out sooner, since it might not be around later.

Personally, I don't think I'll go back, even under F2P. An FPS with lobbies and random small team fights with limited gameplay just doesn't do it for me. To call it an "MMO" is being overly generous.

Ignoring advice here, I popped over to download my free trial. Alas, even after registration there is no clue how to do it. Not only that the mods on the forums don't even know how to get it. So basically they announced it before it was set-up... not exactly confidence encouraging.
