I realize you're a... uh... professional, so I shouldn't have to do your work for you... but 70% of the 20 top selling games in 2008 are also available on the Mac. This is a fact, go research it at the NPD.
Secondly, this is an MMO site, right? The Mac is CERTAINLY represented widely in this category.
So I ask - why do you feel the need to make incorrect and inflammatory statements in your "journalism"?
Macs are a decidedly better computing experience, and some people appreciate the attention to detail of the OS and the hardware. Then some people, like yourself, simply don't get it, and want "cheap".
You probably also drive a Chevy and drink wine from a box.

Anyone who can run Cider "ports" should be using Boot Camp for games. They'll get better performance on the same hardware and have a wider variety of games to choose from.

Same thing with productivity software - we don't need 77 shitty word processors, we have the market leader - Microsoft Word.
The days where Macs were supposedly lacking in quality software are LONG gone.
Also, hope everyone is enjoying their iPod or iPhone.

The truth is that there are not nearly as many titles across the totality of gaming - not just MMOs - that are native to the Mac as there are for PC. Bioshock is just now coming to the Mac? WAR just now? EverQuest Mac was last patched in 2005? Where are the Mac native clients for Aion? Guild Wars? FFXI? Champions Online? Age of Conan? I could keep going, but you get the idea. This isn't something random I pulled out of my arse, and your attacking me doesn't change the fact that Mac's OS isn't the primary OS companies develop games for - like it or not.
The only exception to the above is the iPhone, which dominates the hell out of mobile gaming, but that's minutiae and off the point.
Really, I don't understand your need to bash on me for something I have zero control over, but if you feel you must, go right on ahead. /shrug

And don't go knocking boxed wine, my friend. It's affordable, delicious, and stacks well.

As I just said - who the hell cares about the thousands of shitty games when MOST of the AAA tites and especially MMOs, are on the Mac.
The reason WAR was ported to the Mac? They couldn't ignore the numbers anymore. At a conservative estimate, WoW has 600,000 Mac subscribers worldwide... even if WAR got HALF of those Mac users to play their game, they would outnumber the PC subscribers.
Interesting, huh?
You write like your head is stuck in a pit of sand from 1998. It's a different Mac landscape completely and I suggest you know more about it before you spew random misinformation and personal opinion in your next piece.

First you go on to correct her on the faults of Apple, Insert how much better Apple is at everything in life and then proceed to call her a lower class being than yourself.
That's the pompous attitude you can expect from one who runs around with a Mac for gaming.
70% of the top 20 selling games are available for the Mac? That's only 14 out of 20 on the top selling games. That's pretty low when you compare it to the whole market.
Her statement still stands true.
No, they aren't widely represented in the Mac industry; go to mmorpg.com, go to their gamelist and click on the mac catagory.
You were wrong again.
You made a subjective statement sound like a fact, usual for a pompous Apple carrier.
Attention to detail of the OS? I'll give you that one, They are pretty decent there.
The hardware? You mean the hardware that is designed to slow down and ultimately have you take it in either for a tune-up if it was recently purchased in two years or be forced to buy a new one?
Maybe you buy gateways or Dell and try to game, in which case then I blame you for not doing the "Research" in all the companies that offer hardware for Window OS's.
You probably also drive a Prius and buy bottled water.
So I ask - why do you feel the need to make incorrect and inflammatory statements in your "post"?

MMOs I have to run in Crossover because there is no native client (and I'll stretch to say anything ported with Cider is "native," meaning "native" doesn't require anything else, like an emulator, loaded.
* DOO
* LOTRO
* Guild Wars
* EverQuest -- if I want to play on the main servers
* EverQuest 2
* SWG
So, that leaves what, CoH, EVE, WoW, SL, and WAR as the ones with a native client for the big-MMOs?
In the non-MMO sphere, only EA and Blizzard seem to have any interest in "native" development for the Mac.
Look, I drink the Kool-Aid hard and write for an Apple site, but to claim Mac gaming is anywhere NEAR the PC requires a load of booze and drugs even Hunter S. wouldn't go near.

The FACT is that most quality software and games are more available now than they ever used to be, but ignorant articles like this one just keep slogging the same old uneducated crap. Ignorant, misinformed, embarrassing writing.
Also, funny how some studios can release native Mac clients simultaneously... and some studios just don't have the chops I guess.

As a Mac user myself, I don't run games on my Mac. Why should I when I can just boot it into Windows Vista and run a more diverse collection over there? Most of the games I like to play aren't top 20 sellers, because most games just aren't top 20 sellers.
Also, another good example of why games on Mac don't work out too well --
http://store.apple.com/us/product/TR102LL/A?fnode=MjQzNDcwNg&mco=MTA4MzI2OTc
Now put that versus... say... Call of Duty 4 at GameStop. Go ahead, look it up, because the comment box didn't let me put in a third link and I wanted to save linkage for Civilization 4.
Here's the short story: Mac pricing -- 55 bucks. PC pricing -- 40 bucks on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare
Let's try another game... say... Civilization 4.

Versus
http://www.gamestop.com/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx?product_id=74585
So here's the funny story. I could buy Civ 4 for my Mac for 50 bucks and get one expansion for it. Or, I could get the PC version from GameStop and get it for 40 bucks and get three expansions with it. Less money, more expansions for the PC!
In conclusion, while I admire your brand loyalty, we're reporting correctly. You have your own opinions on Mac as a gaming platform -- that's fine. But there are many, many facts that support that Mac just doesn't hold up to the PC gaming scene.
