Archmage,

Why don't you enlighten me with your definition of grinding.

Brooke,

If grinding is "focused on a single task" then how do explain the process of something like crafting, which you need resources right? So you gather them, could be by killing mobs or obtaining them by NPCs via quests. Does that sound like "focused on single task"?

Go ahead and run a poll on Massively on the definition of grinding. I bet "Boring tedious task" gets more votes than "Focused on a single task".

"Second, only make as many items as needed to complete your work order. Each work order only requires that you create 6 items but the trainer gives you enough basic ingredients for 8. Too many people click "Craft All," which ends up wasting additional resources (i.e., money). Manually type in "6" and then press your craft button."

I highly disagree. It doesn't waste money at all. The crafting process raises your skill. Therefore to craft all saves you time, to only craft 6 and turn it in, you are going to have to craft extra later to get skill gain that you may have been able to push a little more with the last two that you did craft. Isn't that how it works? I see my crafting skill raise while I'm there crafting, not when I'm done and turning in the processed item. If I am wrong somehow, feel free to correct me. I guess you will get more rewards out of it if you just craft the basic 6, but it doesn't really seem that costly to just do the extra two while you are there at the table already. Afterall it's about raising skill not getting the cheesy rewards right?

If your goal is to raise your skill as fast as possible and you don't care about potential earnings, feel free to "craft all" all the time. It's definitely a viable strategy.

If, however, you want to best offset the cost of your crafting, only craft as many items as you need for the work order.

24 items = 4 work orders (6 items per)
24 items = 3 work orders (8 items per)

As you can see above, crafting 6 items per work order gets you an extra work order reward for every 24 items you craft. That's a 33% better chance you're going to get a rare item reward.

This isn't only good if you look at it from a profit point of view. It will also improve your crafter over all because he will have more designs to choose from in the future.

1-99 though you're definitely better off hitting craft all though as there are no rare recipes to worry about

I keep hearing about long cue times, but i never had a problem and never had to wait to log in. I think everyone decided to join the same server.
