Let me put this in WoW terms. Imagine Blizzard only did 4 updates per year, and in those patches they only adjusted 1 or 2 classes, but without fail, every patch, they made major adjustments to the Eastern/Western Plagueland PvP thing.
That's how unpopular MMM is. Very, VERY few people have ever done MMM more than once, if that, yet it's apparently been the primary focus of the development team since they started working on it.
It's astonishing and almost unbelievable how out of touch SE is with the players and how little they care to remedy that problem.
It's FFXIers' #1 concern about FF14: SE is going to continue to block out player communication
