The long Aion server queues are a sticking point for many players who have been looking forward to playing these past few days. We even made a guide to help the Aion folks survive the long waits.
However, the calls against the server queues have not gone unheard. NCsoft has taken note of everyone's feelings, and they've sent us the following response to the issue of the server queues.
At NCsoft our commitment is to making the MMO player experience the best it can be. And while Aion has seen a very successful launch that has exceeded our expectations in many ways, we are aware of the longer than usual queue times that players have experienced on some of the servers. This is due to the initial rush of players that we've seen in the early days of the game's launch in Europe and North America.
Since the opening of Head Start this past weekend, we've have been heavily focused on striking the delicate balance between managing busy servers with queue times versus overcompensating by adding new servers too quickly that are then underpopulated and don't deliver a fun experience for players. We did indeed see an initial rush on the first days of Head Start which resulted in longer than desired queue times for some of our servers, and we are working around the clock to alleviate this. In fact, we are happy to confirm we have increased our server caps and are adding an additional server in both North America and Europe by this weekend, and we will continue to evaluate adding additional servers.
That said, we do have alternate servers where players are experiencing lower queue times. People can get a real-time update and select that choice on our website at: http://na.aiononline.com/livestatus/server/
We continue to monitor issues closely and strive to address player feedback quickly to ensure the best possible experience.

It's not NCsoft's fault that so many guilds decided to cram onto two servers. The players made the rational choice to do this. My guild went with a less popular choice and I haven't seen a queue yet. No server instability, no major crashing bugs, no server restarts. It's the smoothest MMO launch in recent history.

As the "Tre-ents" say, Don't be hasty! Give it some time Even WoW had Qs at launch and alot less server stability. I am Yustiel and have yet to wait in line to get on. In the long run this will be good, no empty servers.
The AFK shops are a problem. I don't think they should go away. I really like the shops. However if a server has a Q they should put a time limit on it and log you out after a certain amount of time, maybe 4 hours. Also, if you sell all your stuff you do get booted due to afk.

This is nothing like WoW launch, because WoW featured about 3x as many servers at (European) launch. This resulted in a couple of servers being crazy full and a vast majority never having queues at all.
Aion on the other hand has queues on ALL servers after people get home from work (in Europe, English-language servers). Right now Perento is completely inaccessible (cannot even join the queue). Spatalos has a 2000 player queue. Castor, Telemachus and Gorgos have no queues yet but are already on way high capacity. And mostly everyone has yet to come home from work.
At prime time (7/8PM until like 3 AM) it's like this: no access to Perento, no access to Spatalos. Telemachus has a 2000+ player queue (5-6 hours). Gorgos has a 1200+ player queue. Castor has a rough 800 player queue. Castor, Gorgos and Telemachus have gotten a little better over the past two days, but Spatalos and Perento have actually gotten worse.
Yes, it's sensible to do this slowly and ensure no server merges are required eventually. But, it's already plainly obvious that 5 (or for that matter, 6) servers aren't going to cut it. If you think it's bad now, wait until launch day, when non preorder players join in and try to find their friends on Perento and Spatalos...
It will not be pretty.

Bottom line is that people paid for the box and they expect to get in to play. If NCsoft will not fix the problem then it is pretty much an epic fail on their part. Instead of touting how you passed expectations fix it so people can enjoy the game. They won't because NA/EU is not the main focus for them.

i dont mind the qs. havent had anythign over 2 hours so what generally happenes is that i get home in the evening after work go to log on and when it gives me a wait time i just go do soemthign else.... like cook dinner watch tv have a shower... and when all thats done i ussually have like 5 min left to w8. and then on the week end its going to be fun. wake up nice and early..... say 8 am and go log in. pretty nice tbh. plus i think eu is pay per hour anyway :)
would have been nice for more english servers. for example how many countries in europe speak german as their second language or french and compair that to how many countries teach english as a second language..... french: france, england..... german: germany and maybe the dutch countries... maybe. english: engand, spain, all of eastern europe, normay, finland, sweden, portugal, turkey (granted only 1 town in europe but hey it somehow still counts, then somehow there are ppl from south africa on my server... ireland scotland wales, italy, switzerland (maybe they are strange as they have 3 languages) russia,
so we really need alot more english servers to accomodate all these ppl. would have been best to start with 5 english servers and 3 of the others......
a possibel solution would be to open 1 or 2 more servers and allow free migration... this way ppl that really wanna leave thier current server due to lag, queues, or w/e can go there and dont have to change names or anythign..... and i think they are doing that already :)
