Amazon's "Deal of the Day" today just happens to be Champions Online, so if you were waiting for a price drop (or a deal this good) then get on over there and grab it while the deal lasts. If you're not sure what the game is all about, wWe've got our WoW players guide to Champions Online, as well as our recent interview on current and upcoming updates to the game with its design director Bill Roper.
We'd say something more, but there's a 40% off sale for a freshly released MMO and... well, why are you still reading this?

Are you certain this is a one-day-deal thing?
Amazon.co.uk has already cut the price from RRP £29.99 to £17.99 (which is precisely 40%) as the new standard price, and its the exact same situation at Play.com.
If this is a one-retailer one-day deal in the US then you're not getting much of a deal over there.

I'm wondering if this has less to do with the quality of the game and more to do with how competitive the market is and is going to continue to be. Two more quality MMOs launched yesterday. Developers are sure gutsy these days.

Indeed you aren't, they do one day offers with many items, most of them are quite popular too.
Now if it was a lasting offer it could be intresting to speculate.

I did my time in beta. No reason to pay for it. I'm happy that others enjoyed it but I never felt that Cryptic actually read any of my feedback (which I *always* put in after playing during a test session). I'll play something a little more seasoned until something fun comes out.

I likethe idea that it is a very competitive market right now. I have no reason to think otherwise. I'm having fuun, and so are my friends I play with. I don't have time to sit around pondering the possibility that the thing I have fun with may be suffering. I have no control over it, if that is even the case.
