Why not just let the player customize the facial features. If you want to have "excess skin" under your chin, you make it so. Want high cheekbones? Raise em! If they allowed the players that type of customization there wouldn't be a problem imho :)

I know that after the total collapse of all civilization, the first and foremost thought on *my* mind will be "yes, but do I look feminine enough?". Because, y'know, we poor lil' silly wimminz are like that.

Let me clarify that. If anyone had said, "Hey, everything in FE looks sort of... I dunno, dirty, do you think you could make it look cleaner and prettier?", or "Hey, everything in FE looks sort of... cobbled together from trash, could you make it look sleek and shiny and futuristic, since it's the future?", they'd get laughed at. This is *after the Apocalypse*. It's supposed to look dirty and cobbled together, because people are trying to *survive*, not make things look nice.

But you go "hey, the female characters don't look like they're getting tons of beauty products and plastic surgery to look as nice as possible, do you think you could fix that?" and suddenly it's "oh, hey, great idea!".

My personal rundown of opinions:

First pic(pre-jump) - The Before doesn't appear female from profile, so the After is an improvement. Hard to tell from the side, but she is probably in the sweet spot they should aim for. Feminine, somewhat attractive, but not what would be described as dolled up or gorgeous.

Second pic(post-jump/pre-Q&A) - Improved, but not really perfect. The Before had to go, since it looked less like a female and more like a bad joke 'okama' character you get from alot of manga. Still, the After is just too cute for the Apocalypse. She looks like a bunny girl with pouty lips.

Third pic - Definitely an improvement here, too. The Before looks like a late-20 something male, and not even in the slightest bit like a female. The After is also in the sweet spot, like the first.

Fourth and Fifth - Going from decent and average Latin and African-American late-30's women to a J-Lo clone and a semi-loli is a problem. The Before's were much better in terms of feel and place in the setting. The Afters look like they have been salvaging more make-up kits than med-packs. Not a step in the right direction.

Hey also while I'm thinking about it, why did they ninja this on the community? Why not let us know ahead of time, like in open beta these changes were coming??

I may have actually gotten this game then, and some people may have been more prepared and not gotten up went to see what the patch was like and found different looking characters....

If they did tell people before my apologies.

We are so used to seeing the 'ideal' female form in the media we just don't expect to see more realistic female characters in our games. I'm not saying their shouldn't be more conventionally attractive models to choose from, but it would be great to have the choice.

I would also point out that all the player characters in Fallen Earth are clones, so in theory you could argue that they should be an 'ideal' look. Although I can't remember what the criteria was for being cloned. Personally I'd like as wide a choice as possible.

The AFTER face on the front page looks a lot like my wife, when I met her ten years ago. Now she looks more like the BEFORE face... ¬_¬

Personally I preferred the original look, the only change I would have advocated was the one to the skin under the chin/jaw the new image looks too artificial to me.

Then again these things are very subjective, beauty is in the eye of the beholder as they say.

I like Fallen Earth's approach about females.

When you're fighting for survival i doubt people are gonna pay attention to how large your boobies are.

It makes sense in fantasy settings though.
"Win Zam! Make my boobies bigger!"

I like the before shots a lot better. Despite being a little heavy on the jaw, they actually look like normal people.... The after shots have ridiculously tiny jaws and look like mannequins. I would actually be more interested in playing a game in which women look like normal human beings than Barbie dolls.

Sadly, I seem to be in the minority

All of the "afters" have the same damn face. :| I'd be pissed if I woke up one day and someone Barbified all my characters -- guess I'm lucky I don't play Fallen Earth...
