I had planned to fill it out.. place of origin, roleplayers, native language...no choice for English.. lost all respect for them and closed the poll.

I have the Ce version of the game and a month to play and although its undoubtedly gorgeous and the music stunning..the game itself is rather bland and very much a grindfest.

I'm also finding it incredibly hard to come to terms with a game that touts Flying as a major feature and then not only puts a timer on it, but restricts it to a tiny selection of maps anyway.

I suspect Ill play my 33 days and that will be that..sad really, I got caught up in the initial hype but after testing it, it didnt really live up to the hype...in anything but looks.

As I always say to this (and i've yet to get a retort), please name an mmo that isn't a grindfest. I'd love to know of one. Even ones without levels like EvE and Fallen Earth have grinding, you grind skills or techs or crafting. Complaining an mmo has grinding in it is like complaining the next Call of Duty has guns in it, or the next Gran Turismo has tracks you race from start to finish on. It is genre.

Also, flying without restrictions over the whole game would be a big mistake. A little annoying yes, but it is there for a good reason. It's already unlimited in the Abyss which is where it is most important.

Funnily I and many others are the opposite of you. We ignored the original hype as we'd seen it all before and been let down so many times, but playing in the beta very quickly convinced me that Aion does everything my previous mmo does but better. I can't wait!

(Oh and the poll not having english as an option is very stupid, even if it was to define how many of the other languages would be on the server.)

Holy fuck they're not going to finalize until the 18th?

There's already been a ton of drama about server timezones, I can't believe they'd wait that long.

Yeah, NCSoft's really not been very responsive.

By and large, people have just had it with waiting for NCSoft to provide a firm answer and are taking things into their own hands. The prevailing attitude, from what I could glean, appears to be: if you prioritize RP over PvP, then head to Lumiel. If you still like RP, but want a lot more focus on competitive PvP, then Zikel's the preferred destination.

Personally, I can't wait for this game to just go live. :)

They've taken the surveys down. http://na.aiononline.com/en/news/aion-to-launch-with-oceanic-server.html

"We experienced some frustrating technical difficulties with the surveys we launched early this week meant to help roleplayers and language-specific communities choose their unofficial game servers. Many Aion communities saw a need to coordinate their members and were much quicker than we were to organize surveys. We have decided to honor their hard work by permanently taking our own survey down"

I see that news posting as well but the survey this article refers to is still alive and kicking...

They might still be up but they no longer mean anything. They won't be using them to list any server the "unofficial" rp server. And as someone stated they've already named the oceanic server.

They've also named Nezekan the official Oceanic timezone server - gmt+10.

What's funny is a lot of oceanic players didn't want a server in their timezone. They just wanted a server that most of them played on so when they stayed up grinding AP into the wee hours of the morning, there was more chance they'd run into other people. :p Now with the server set to such a weird time, unless Aion gets to be insanely popular to fill it up, it'll likely be a ghost town.

Actually Myr your a little wrong there :).

To a lot of Oceanic player a server set to our timezone was THE most important thing.

A really big chunk of Endgame content runs on timers and for the Oceanic players this meant most of these events would occur at really odd times for us. Fortresses in the Abyss and The Dredgion instance all run on timers, and while these may appear like small content events in writing, they actually play a VERY big part in endgame PvP, PvPvE and even PvE.

In other MMOs i have played that have Servers set to an Oceanic timezone, those servers are very healthy and i think Nez wont be a ghost town. There is more then enough Oceanic players to support the server, otherwise NCSoft wouldnt have change one of, if not the most populated NA server to our timezone. Plus dont forget there are a lot of Americans and other players from other timezones who have a weird RL schedule, and their free time just happens to be during Oceanic primetime too :). This server is beneficial for more people then just Oceanic players.

*shrug* I was just going by this thread (when it only had about 10 posts): http://www.aionsource.com/forum/nezekan-west/54203-congrats-oceanic-players.html

Only thing that's really set on a timer is fortress sieges (which may include random Dredgion attacks). Each siege period covers several fortresses and lasts 2h30m. Granted whichever faction controls the fortress gets to run instances there, but there's still many other endgame events.

English and Germans already have their servers, I'm pretty sure that poll was intended primarily for other language-speaking communities.

I did a little reading up on the links you posted, namely the hullaballoo over the possible allotment of RP servers, and my lord it was illuminating. Remind me never to go to Aionsource ever again. Those boards are almost as bad as the Darkfall ones and that's saying something.

We are checking into this. We realize what the news message says buried in the Oceanic server announcement, but want the official word from NCsoft before saying it is absolutely closed.

It still appears to be up for me...

Thanks for your patience!
