You guys are crazy. The character models look fine. You can set the clothing material, too, and that changes it's sheen.

Explain how the game makes this look worse than a CoX hero? In fact, the character creator is accessible right now through an IGN competition, so why don't you actually go see what you can make in it, instead of making baseless and untrue comments. While I greatly enjoy the character creator in CO, and made many beastly toons I love, I have to admit that because of the facial sliders and whatnot, most human characters look like a hot claymation mess. Not saying that's necessarily a bad thing -- some people honestly love the more cartoony look, including me for certain characters (eye sliders make for nice anime-inspired looks). But there are also people who just want a more realistic super-hero MMO. Champions has a lot of things going for it, but looking realistic isn't one of them.

Graphically the only thing CO has going over CoH are the higher end effects like metal reflections. It makes the game look like it has better graphics, but really it just has some higher end engine effects. The graphics in CoH are actually much cleaner and the character animations are vastly superior. Too many of the animations in CO have too few frames and the hero ends up looking like a spastic monkey on speed.

I have both games, so I can start one and then start the other and look at them both. Artistic differences aside, I like the look of CoH better -- the graphics are cleaner and crisper, even if they lack some of the fancy features of the CO engine and have lower resolution textures in most places.

As far as the whole "zomg, CO did power customization to CoH copied them!", CoH power customization is VASTLY superior to CO's -- you can modify colors in CoH just like a costume piece (two colors per power), and preview the results before you're done. In CO you just get a static slider that lets you change a single color, and many colors aren't even available. CO has the advantage of being doable anywhere for free, but that's about it. Changing the colors makes some of the CoH powers look fantastic, whereas changing CO colors doesn't really effect much.

I'm playing CO for now, simply because it's new and different, but complaining that the CoH engine is old and crappy looking is baseless.

agree 100%

Champions Online literally gives me a headache after extended playing. The colors & contrast make my eyes sore. & there's no sharpness, no naturalness. CoH is MUCH MUCH easier on the eyes.

Sorry. CO looks way better to me than CoH. But it must just be a matter of opinion or maybe even hardware. I played them both turned all the way up and enjoy the visuals more. I do leave off the comic outlining, just doesn't do anything for me.

@Arrow,
What are you doing wrong that makes your head hurt when playing this game? I have spent an entire day non stop playing and the only thing that hurt on me was my butt from sitting so long.
