I suppose they at least did themselves a favor by not having a dragon at the heart of Nightfall, though at the time I found that thematically idiotic, missing the oppurtunity to dovetail the demi-god dragons with the demi-god... Well, ex-humans?
I had kinda wondered how they were going to fit Glint and Kuunavang into the whole "Dragons are an ancient evil" thing, kinda had hoped for better then a standard issue retcon, especially as Glint was probably my favorite character (hey, she lives in a grain of sand in a desert, now that's someone who values privacy!) in the entire series.
Then again, I should know better. Neither lore nor storytelling were ever GW's or Anet's strong suit.

Honestly I don't know how anyone can impune depth of lore and storytelling over the revelation that an enigmatic NPC might *shock horror* have been other-than-truthful when describing herself as agent of the gods and shepherd of humanity.
I fear we're all doomed to another generation of 15ft tall glowing-eyed death-metal lunatic antagonists if there's outrage over the slightest deviation from "BWA HA HA, WITNESS MY OBVIOUS VILLAINY" narratives.
