Probably because people don't just go around breaking non disclosure agreements, especially not if you can win a trip to the international court in the Hague by doing it.

I think it would be trifled and CCP would be heavily fined if they attempted it.

No judge would accept to court a case of violating NDA that resulted in no loss and ingame money have no value.

Ah, but in EvE, ingame money DOES have a value. In EVE, the value of ISK is tied to the current going rate of EVE timecards. In other words, people buy game time with ISK, which is provided by people buying time cards with money.

Think about it if you can prove that the games ISK can be taxed.

Just because something has value doesn't automatically mean it will get taxed. That is a political issue, not an economic one.

Lolz, when fantasy becomes more important than reality. Only in Eve.

A question concerning the story, why did you put the Real Name of the player next to his in-game name. I'm not a current player of EVE so I'm not to familiar with the CSM rules, but is giving up your real identity part of being on this panel?

If not I really don't see a need for it.

Just my two cents.

Nevermind, I saw the may election results had the RL names. I just found it a bit odd to see that.

onetrueping:

The effect is the same, regardless of whether he was a player council or not. One person tried to corner the market and got banned for it. It's not going to affect gameplay, it's not going to affect how this player council works, it's not going to matter much on the street, CCP is not going to change the game or even the player council over it, and people are just going to footnote it and move on.

The only difference between this and normal AH manipulation is that CCP gave people advance notice. Stuff like this happens every day when a new expansion is released, or even a new event. Heck, it used to happen even before an expansion is released, as some of the playerbase DAT mined the expansion files to read quest descriptions and hit the ground running to buy all of a certain item.

It's just getting annoying-I have no complaint about EVE news in general, and I honestly really don't care about the game. If i want sandbox, there are better ones out there more to my taste. But stuff like this is akin to guild drama in my book, unless it has a measurable impact on the game.

Massive fraud like this DOES have an impact on the game, on multiple levels. The flow of ISK could have been dramatically impacted. Do we know this for sure? No, because he was caught before he could profit from his deed. The trust in the council, placed there by both players and CCP, was damaged. CCP is less likely to be as forthcoming in pre-testing ideas with representatives of the player base, if those representatives can't be trusted to not try to profit from it.

And if you aren't that interested in news like this, STOP READING IT! Just because you yourself are not interested in the news doesn't make it not newsworthy.

Alright, I'll concede the violation of the agreement, even though I disagree with its purpose.

I still don't find it acceptable for a developer to take action on players based on the developers mistake and lack of action. But that is a topic for another forum.
