They are saying on twitter its because the equivalent to "a small country" Is trying to log in all at once. Give it a moment for the mad rush to pass :)

only 1 thing you need to know about Aion.

1 - After level 20-22, you get to grind most, if not all of each advancing level.

it's a korean grinder in the english language... oh joy (and i did play closed beta... nothing i wanted or hoped for did the game deliver)

Well it's another (kind of nearly) MMO launch. Web sites crashing, even affiliated web sites going down the tubes, non responding clients as servers explode and the trolls of darkness are gathering in the darkness of the burned out server stacks ready to post prophercies of doom wherever they can.

Useful titbits of information about what the team leaders have for lunch at some expo aren available via twitter, but zero information about what's actually going on. Top job guys :) It's the kind of information blackout that many armies around the world would love to be able to produce that make MMO's so special.

I hope the actual launch is as good as the WAR launch with that euro community liason who lost his head in the stress of it all and wrote a rather 'lively' post in the official forums in an attempt to have a go back xD

They had some trouble with the authentication server, thanks to the hordes of players hammering the servers and website - even though these were down, the devs keup updating status on the fix every few minutes through twitter, certainly more than any other MMO company would do if they have problems with their server.

At the end of the day, the auth server was doen for just 45mins and all went fine. :p

I dont know what it is with Aion, it seems every article on MAssively about Aion spawns legions of hating anti-aion fanboys.

Reeeallllyyy......? Yeah, but not exactly front page news though was it :)) And even then it should of been on the web site but a small thing really. Seemed a shame to waste my communication blackout metaphor.

But you're right, it was an amazingly smooth launch once in. Congratz to all :) Must of been hell for them.

Well I finally got in. The character creator is fun, and I'm sure tons of circus midgets will be running around soon. It is refreshing that you can create a character of any size, basically representing the vast array of human body shapes.

However, with so many players crammed into the starter zones, the game is unplayabley laggy.

Remeber you can switch channels in the zones up to lvl 20, imagine how crowded those areas would be if teh game didnt have channeling. :P

For me it's easy: I won't buy an MMO that I haven't tried. My experience in the MMO market has taught me better. Furthermore, the longer a game has been out, the less likely I am to switch.

If you join six months in, when many MMOs start offering trials, you're joining when A) fewer people are looking for new friends, B) good guilds are full, making it very difficult to get it, C) you are leveling solo, as few people are leveling. Those that are leveling are alts, and they expect you to know the game, boss fights, etc. Basically you have to level as an outsider, then find a second-rate guild, struggle (in my case as a hardcore player in a casual guild) for a few months, then maybe finally join a guild where you accomplish what you want to. None of these barriers would have existed had I joined the game at launch.

Point is, offer a trial at or near launch, or I won't play. Since I can't get in the closed beta, the games got about 3 weeks post-launch before I file it under "MMOs I won't be playing." The only exception to this is if I have some friends who move to an older MMO with me.

I'm not sure what I am about to say in OT or not but...

...after my experience with Champions, I'll never play a game on release again...until at least it has time to have worked out some of it's n00bness. I know Aion has already been released in the East and is doing well, my concern is that it's translation between Western appeal (we like adventure) vs Eastern appeal (lol grindfest) may bring it's own n00bness to the table (lol xp loss?). I'll wait to around Xmas to see how the game is doing...when it's had a couple of months to mature.

...but more on topic, I wouldn't consider those 5 things to know great selling points. But thanks for the heads up I guess. /sigh

It amazes me exactly how much utter garbage people spew about a game they have no idea about.

You have ubertool Jason whining about being misled, and his chorus of Followers raising their pitchforks with him.

Here's a clue junior: You're paying Fileplanet, Gamershell, etc the cash, not NC Soft. I think that's a pretty fair price for them hosting the game on their servers, which are made to handle the sort of server load 234098234028934 people trying to download the same 9gbs at once would cause.

So, NC Soft gets to have their client hosted by a 3rd party, and Fileplanet gets to make money for a few days off of subscriptions from Fanbois.

Guess what, Junior? That's called "Business" Go QQ in the Corner, Emo Kid.

Then you have Serotonin going off some random tangent about Free Trials, because (s)he doesn't want to pay for an MMO without playing it.

I can understand that but.. *koff* you know the OPEN FREAKING BETA is going on right now, right? Its a "Trial" before you "Buy" it? Granted, you'll have to sub to Fileplanet for the OMG amount of $5.95 for a month. OHNOEZ!

Alas, I paid $2.50 for my Aion Beta key...1 Month of Fileplanet has gotten me here and into the Champs Online beta. OHNOEZ, I GOT DOUBLETROUBLE!.

And for Champions, several days after the official start of the OB, it was free to ANYONE to download off of fileplanet and get a beta key. Any news on Aion doing that also?

Oh, yeah, and the game. Its awesome. Loving it so far. Thanks for asking :)

Non of you retarded fanbois or girls get it do you... An OPEN BETA means available for all without fees.. Hell I'll make it even sweeter, People who are currently in the Beta are doing NCsofts work for them by Stress / Bug testing their software.

Their setup is indeed misleading and allready their servers are buckling under the strain... Lesson nr 1 When the game releases properly how do you think they will manage then?

Retards learn to look past yer fanboi induced nonsence.
