Wow, people are still going at it, but thats ok, keep being ignorant, once the game comes out and it becomes obvious that all this is about assassins being top pvpers only means that they can gank better and get more points.

Anyone thats played the game will tell you that in organized combat, clerics , sorcs and templars are best. SM which scored the lowest in this test are also desired because of their flight debuffs that limit the a person can stay airborn, which hurts the heales alot in pvp.

So if you want to keep arguing that assassin are OP and broken despite the game being out for nearly a year with tons of balance patches already aplied (and fixing their non existant OP ness taking almost no time to fix), then go right ahead.

I'm suprised that no one has mentioned how much these standings change since AP is what you use to buy rift gear, godstones, ect... Buy a new piece of gear and you drop in the rankings. With more assassin players in korea, there is simply a higher likelihood of sins topping the charts. One sin spends his points, and another sin takes his place in the standings. That doesn't mean that other classes aren't as successful in the rift, it just means that there's less of them to show up on the standings.

As for the real, RANKED pvp matches, Clerics are dominating the 1v1 2v2 and 3v3 televised events in Korea.

Of course, sleepingpanda said as much 6 posts in, and only the braindead argued.

Semantics?

You know that is arguing over the meaning of words? How were we arguing over the meaning of words. You explained why Assassins are at the top, I pointed out that this is irrelevent.

You do understand the meaning of the word 'semantic' right?

Cry Moar, what has pointing out the failings of a PvP system and the company that is trying to hide it from customers, while on a site based around MMORPGs, got to do with fun?

So to have fun I should sit here plating NCSoft and Aion saying how wonderful it is? How is that any more or less fun then pointing out how Aion is not balanced and this balancing issue is being hidden from potential customers.

The thing is 'events' don't tell the whole story of PvP. They never have done. Which is why some classes do very well in the tournaments that WoW hold yet in the 'real' world of PvP outdoors, are not the dominant class.

It is because Tournaments and Events are artificial PvP, you KNOW you are about to fight someone, you come prepared to fight someone. When in the OPEN PvP area of the Abyss, like in the outdoors of PvP WoW, you could be fighting PvE for an hour then all of a sudden find yourself in a PvP situation.

They don't really compare.

The question to ask is....how many people are involved in the events and for what duration of time, and how many people are involved in outdoor PvPvE fighting and for what duration of time.

I think the answer would be quite clear, more people will be fighting for longer periods of time outdoors then they will in specialised events.

Of course, only the braindead apply logic to situations.

This is going to be my last post on this topic.

Bossy; please try to understand, most of us are not trying to steal your friends off of WoW, we just want a new game to play and Enjoy, as most of us did on WoW.
We have grown tired of it, everything ages and cures to become the fine wine WoW is to so many people, and some of us get tired of it going on to be 5 years soon.

Dravi; think of AP as Tokens or Badges, It has little meaning for PvP rankings, it just shows who collects the most of them, and as I said you get them for PvE.
Assassin is the fastest leveling class, it has a connection to why they collect so much of it.

Yes, I understand there is an issue of a population balance and why they would let 50% of a server be one class, but this is not the case here.
It is who collects Badges the fastest, a PvP Ranking scoreboard would look much different and a Server Consensus would show that Assassin is only a few percent higher than other classes.
8 classes dIvided up would be 12% with a little leeway for Assassin.

It has world PvP and it has Small Tournament matches, it's really up to how the player chooses to go about it.

As for the Tournaments, it's almost essential you get a Cleric or a good Chanter, the fights in Aion are centered around being a tight group of people when you plan on doing strategy PvP, but if you decide to match up Classes one on one, there is always someone who will show you it takes a lot more than just pushing two buttons over and over to be successful.

I hope this argument ceases, as Open Beta starts approximately 35 minutes from now.

Only the brainded apply logic to hypothetical situations without facts to back them up.

Saying "the korean servers have lots of sins, because they're the only viable pvp class" assumes that you can determine their reasons for coosing the class off of ONE incomplete datapoint. Other factors such as the class being easy to alt, quick to level, challenging to play at top level (since they can be detected from 100m out and all) are just a few factors that would have to be considered.

With that flawed theory called into question, your conclusion that PvP doesn't work can't be supported.

Oh, but it's a conspiracy! The company is trying to hide endgame from us! Tinfoil hat logic. The fastest leveler in CAion took close to 2 months to reach max level, and they're making it take longer to level in the US version (eta is around 3 months for the "hardcore"). It could be that the devs are focusing on the areas where players will be around release. It could be that they're not finished localizing the higher level map quests. Either of those are more believable than "OMG CONSPIRACY!!!"

Either way, I probally just gave a troll more attention than he deserved... If nothing else, we can come away with the knowledge that uninformed armchair predictions make you look silly.

Dravi is feeding off of the attention. Anyone who reads through the comments will see that his points have a) been refuted with more logic and information than he's shown and b) been downvoted for their poor quality.

Dravi, the tribe has spoken. Shoo.

I got a pre-order key and thus could participate in the closed beta and now in the open beta as well.

Only ONE of my friends who wanted to participate in open beta got a key from a key lottery one one page, he tried really hard, the other two were unlucky. So much about "open" beta. A rather limited beta, or pay-to-beta system, if you want. :>

The early 20 levels of Aion are beautiful, I loved them. But then it gets really Age of Conan somewhat. The Abyss is huge, and this is where you are going to be for the rest of your char's life. Interdiktah or the Asmodian equivalent are just one more big zone that feels very much the same as the earlier zones. It is a small world.

Then you get to the meat - it is PvP, what else. And what Sorcerers do in the early 20 levels, kick everyone's butt, later turns against them: Magic Resist gets so high that they rarely hit players with their spells, the new +1000 Magic Accuracy advanced Stigma exists for this reason. This game has some balance issues, and the statistic shows who reaps the benefits at the moment. On the other hand the now seriously nerfed Spiritmasters dominated for a while, and in the big picture your CLASS and YOU being so important is a western mindset take on PvP.

You will gank and fight in groups, the bigger the better. You can solo-grind Balaur for Abyss points, but once a team of two or more players shows up, run away as fast as you can. You will also level much faster in a team, even if XP get split in half. The more, the merrier - in contrast to many more western MMOs Aion rewards grouping.

Patch 1.5, currently live on the beta servers, shall change and westernize a lot of content. Easier XP and all that, less grind. Still this game is Korean at heart. One must really love PvP, and more PvP, and only PvP, to love Aion for a longer period of time, and PvP must be enough for you.

So yeah, it is Tortage - after level 22 I already got bored, at 25 I saw the Abyss and explored it. To level 28 I should have grinded one one tiny shard floating in the Abyss, I just had nothing else to do. I guess they added some more quests to make people level faster by now. That Assassins rock so much at the moment or that there is bias towards a certain class in this or that patch will not be your biggest issue, it is more about if you can embrace the Korean PvP heritage and enjoy it.
