It's already in development.... "The Secret World" It is supposed to be loosely based on Lovecraft fiction.

I would like a Tabula Rasa type MMO (I am sure they could make a decent game like that) or something I always thought would be cool, a post apocalyptic zombie outbreak MMO which would probably be similar to Tabula Rasa in the shooting MMO aspect. Either would be fine for me, I am tired of the orc and gnome fantasy games.

You may wish for World of Starcraft or Diablo but we have known for months now that it will be a totally new IP.

It is not related to any of Blizzard's games, though I am guess sc-fi (which I hate) or post apocalyptic (which really is not much better), or an FPSMMO (3-4 are already coming out.

All of that, or it will be RMT/Monthly Fee, pay for the amount of content, pay Blizz for gold/credits, and you can trade accounts/characters through a official Blizz client.

Well that part is going way out on a limb but if they want money there is no faster way to get it.

My guess: they want to do something they haven't done, which excludes fantasy AND science fiction. It also kind of excludes something historical because even if there aren't elves and gnomes, something historical is going to look and feel like a fantasy. I think it's going to be based in contemporary times, and have an urban feel, similar to APB and GTA. This area is pretty far away from Blizzard's current IPs, which makes it a good guess.

It will have the following:

Sci-Fi related
Most likely shooter skill based
No subscription
RMT for items and extras
Player modding friendly
Will sell millions

I think something in line with a Global Agenda could be very likely. Blizzard wants to expand themselves beyond the RTS-RPG company. And the FPS market on both PC and consoles is huge.

Either a fps MMO which would suck in my opinion , don't ask me why or a sci-fi one and they are planning to do what they did with WOW and take everything good from all others fantasy mmos and combined them and polish it only with sci fi now.

To be honest I think Blizzard is not going to be as succesful as before in the future. At least in the MMO department , they are expecting big numbers but it won't happend with Starcraft and Diablo 3 out there which were a lot more popular than thier warcraft titles before WOW.

A Starcraft mmo with some EVE online kinda gameplay would be the only mmo that could pull big numbers in my opinion other than that I think they will fail since thats not happening .Well not to be a bad guy or anything but thats my honest opinion and I wish they will prove me wrong and make some F.U.N. game that I don't have to grind 80 levels, to grind loot after loot on max level for nothing ....

Why does Blizz want a 1 year turnaround on expansions?

Sorry, but I prefer a 2 year turnaround. I don't want to keep dropping 50$ a year on top of the 15$ a month I'm already paying.

I guess the main benefit of a 1 year turnaround is telling the story faster, but they could do that already if the wanted... no one forced them to have a coliseum tier that doesn't push the storyline forward very far.

If they continue to plan on having tiers of raiding be difficult, but still have 4 or more tiers each expansion, then that would be a 3 month turn around on raiding. Considering it can take 2 months just for the top guilds to complete a raid, none of it makes any sense.

What are they going to do, turn each expansion into only having 3 raids? 3 arena seasons? They could have easily done that with this expansion, so why didn't they. Blizzard needs to let people enjoy their time at the top, not constantly churn our more grinding for them to work through.

@Averice

I agree. Although any MMO that Blizz puts out will do very well, The 1 year turnaround (from Wow p.o.v)is terrible on the consumers pocket. Blizz should take a huge tip from Warhammer Online and just do all xpacs as patch/content updates.

Im going to guess something along the lines of Second Life or The Sims. This wouldnt overlap with the settings for any of their other games, and it would appeal to a VERY broad audience.

I would probably hate this game.

A modern days vampire or zombies or cthulhu MMO would just be perfect, even if CCP is already doing a vampire mmo and funcom a cthulhu one (well sort of)

It's easy to know what their next MMO will be. Just take Everquest + the popular bits of any other MMOs out there right now.

So, it'll be a free to play MMO with a cash shop. Sci-Fi themed with ship and ground based combat, your character will have wings and 8 equipable skills at a time, the ability to switch classes on the same character and of course crappy unbalanced PvP (that's the bit they'll take from WoW).

No matter what you think of Warcraft or any of the other games Blizzard has produced, one thing they absolutely excel at is the business of making MMOs and making money. They have created a lot of additional features that tie back into Warcraft and keep you coming back for more like the addictive card game business that has chances for in-world items. Like BlizzCon. a Store site, books, etc... a movie forthcoming by a major director. It's everywhere. Microtransactions in the future only make sense to continue to draw people in.

Blizzard excels at the psychology of the Game.

That said. I have absolutely no doubt that whatever they come up with will be entirely and completely different from World of Warcraft. They want to keep the millions of subscribers they have... and add more. So it is going to be something wildly and radically different which means you can pretty much guarantee it will not be a fantasy genre game of any kind.

Thing is people talk a lot about a PvP game.

I don't think the market exists for such a game. I think more people want PvE and that the vocal minority bangs on about PvP all the time while not really acknowledging that they are a minority.

if you want PvP there are plenty of FPS' around to fill that gap, to scratch that itch.

In MMORPGs there never have been, and never will be, a decent PvP game. It is far too complex. You cannot have people of different levels, with different skill sets, with different abilities, wearing different equipment, all competing and expect ANY sort of balance.

Look at Guildwars, it has a nice little niche there for itself, but it doesn't really compete with any other major MMORPG...if you can even call the game an MMORPG.

PvP games in MMORPG are a niche market and I doubt Blizzard is going to invest considerable time and money on a niche game. They will leave that to the independents.
