Today was launch day for Champions Online, but it was also apparently a patch day as well. The patch in question wasn't exactly documented normally, although you can get the gist of it from this official forum post.
Some of these balance and bug changes were expected, but some weren't. Specifically, players have been in an uproar over the lack of a free respec in lieu of enemy difficulty and power changes made to the game, and have so far racked up nearly 700 replies and over 32,000 views on the subject in a thread over on the official forums.
Thankfully, there are clear signs that Cryptic is taking notice, even if they aren't replying in the firestorm of a thread requesting a patch rollback. Additionally, a proper test server is forthcoming for future patches, which should help to avoid similar upsets within the community and allow everyone's opinion to be heard before serious changes are made to the game.

I am sooo glad I didn't rush into this at launch. After brief closed beta and the very small open beta I promised I'd wait at least three months.
Dear lord I'm glad I waited.

I did play closed beta and open beta and the day after open beta ended since the devs wanted to test another build before early start. I did not however test respecs that last day. Prior to that though I did routinely respec all 10 available choices to play around with other trees. It never came close to bankrupting me.
Lets make it clear here... early starters are almost always minmax players who want to charge out of the gates and cap out. The perfect crowd to data mine to see what powers are over powered and need nerfing before the masses jump in. That the minmaxers that are also early starters don't know they are guinee pigs isn't Cryptics fault but they are their benefit.
I will heading out to buy my CO box on Friday and sub when the daily patches slow down... like anyone who's played MMOs knows to do so that you aren't paying to beta =P
On that note anyone else find it funny that the "its beta, it'll change" crowd gets pissy when come launch... it changes =O

So now I'm lvl 15. And I'm able to take on solo 4 henchmen and a villain without much trouble if I think about what I'm doing without just running in without a plan. I've taken down master villains alone and it only to me and another guy to do Foxbat. I'm a littl more informed now, and I'll say it again. Got no problem with the patch. Something needs to be done about regen though. In pvp, if I block, I can still get health back while being beaten on by 3-4 ppl.

I got no sympathy for the players at all in this case.
I warned people that a company that sold their Beta could not be trusted and did not care about the players at all.
On day one they proved me right.
I hope the pain continues and CO loses all credibility as it will serve the company right for treating potential customers as a revenue source before they ever released the game.
