Yeah, I mean most computer games are such a productive use of your time and energy. (rolls eyes)

"SuperGroups" really? The couldn't come up with something original for their new game. I wonder what else they kept the same as CoH. Considering Champions is built on an upgraded engine from what CoH was using when they sold it to NCSoft, I'm guess there's a lot of similar naming standards.

I fully understand there are only so many possible words that can be used to describe things like powersets, supergroups, etc. But come one don't copy straight from your previous superhero game... that's just lazy.

What would you call them?

What would you refer to the Justice League as? The Avengers? The X-Men?

....

I'm not saying don't copy anyone else's name... I thought I made it clear that I understand that there are only so many words to describe a group of heroes, but why copy your previous game. Call it a Guild, Alliance, Accord, Faction, Kinship, Fellowship, Association, Corporation, Team... hell even Super Team! Anything but what you called it 4 and a half years ago.

Heaven forbid they use a common term that has been used in comics since the 50's. No, wait, they should call it some other generic term that other MMO's use! That'll work better!

Yes "heaven forbid" indeed. Heaven forbid there be a little bit of originality in a game or in society in general! Heaven forbid we expand the user's vocabulary with original nomenclature.

Heaven forbid a fan of Champions, CoH, and comics in general have an opinion about something without a bunch of flames sent their way!

I'll be interested to see if DCUO uses the same name or not.

So... lots of games use the term "Guild." Is that a problem for you?

Sure if that's the official term, then yes I would like if it was called something different.

My original comment was based on the combination of unoriginality coupled with the fact that the last game they released used the same term.

Does the fact that 'Guild' is a common term in MMO's bother me just as much... no (not as much, but it still does bother me a little), but if Blizzard released another MMO and they used 'Guild' again then that would bother me just as much as this.

Too bad there's almost no group content in the game and most of it can be soloed.

In ChampO they were originally called Leagues. Feedback in alpha / beta wasn't positive about the name and it was thought that everyone understood supergroups better as a term.

Cryptic changed this at player request.

Knock off the hate. If you don't like this game, fine but don't waste Massively's time babysitting your commentary.

I haven't played in the beta but i've heard the game is so solo friendly there's no point or incentive to grouping anyway. Anyone who's actually played the game have an opinion on this?

A game where everybody solo's is called a single player game. And it's a waste of money to spend $15/month to play a game that could just as easily be played without an internet connection. This is also why i don't play WoW.

Considering the game is still only in Early Release... wait.. few more hours at least, there's a lot of talk about there not being any group content. Wait till you unlock your Nemesis. You'll have a hard time just beating up goons in the streets by yourself.

Every time I turn around I'm getting jumped by 5 or 6 of my Nemesis minions and getting the crap kicked out of me.

Impressions from BETA or impressions of the first 10 levels don't hold up for long.

When my main hit 25 I went from soloing tens of mobs at a time to not being able to fend off three of my Nemesis minions.

There is grouping in the game its just it doesn't start till high 20s for some reason wish they would put in more group content for lower levels. When i was 29 i ran 3 different 5 man dungeons and 1 crisis event which were all group content it was pretty darn fun.
