This is a really nice game, love to login once in a while and just wander around with my level 12 disciple... XD Maybe I'll get her in the 20's next time...

One question: Does this game support forced anti aliasing like eq2 does yet?

I see we're playing the "downrate if you disagree, uprate if you agree" game here, rather than looking at the quality of people comments.

Take a step back, take off your blinkers, and take a look at the first impression Vanguard will make on the average gamer.

First thing you have to consider: the average gamer has played WoW. The average gamer has NOT played EQ. Simple maths, given the number of people who played the two games. So any elements common to both of the above and to Vanguard will look like imitations of WoW.

So this person fires up the Vanguard trial. Immediately they see that it has exactly the same race/class/level/stat/questing/item mechanics they're accustomed to from WoW. But that the quests don't seem as well writter or engaging. And that the races and classes seem a bit vague compared to the high fantasy archetypes WoW used. And that, minority opinions such as JP's aside, the graphics have fallen into the same hole as EQ2: technically superior to WoW, but let down by a lack of strong art direction and also by much poorer animation, so the overall effect is worse. Not to mention the crude UI which indeed seems much more from the pre-2004 EQ, DAoC, Horizons, AC2, etc. mold than the standard set in more recent years by, yes, WoW.

Look, I know Vanguard has a lot of features that the dedicated players love. I know about the huge explorable world, the diplomacy, etc. But I'm telling you: I've played a lot of MMOs, I'm far more curious than the average WoW fanboi that you clearly want to paint me as. But the first impression Vanguard makes IS NOT A GOOD ONE. Everything you see in the first few hours is either (a) identical to WoW, or (b) a lot like WoW, but inferior.

I actually UP-rated your earlier post, Claw. Unfortunately, it was very faint, but it seemed like a perfectly reasonable post, just like the one you make here.

When people downrate a post just because it's critical, it really ticks me off. :-(

Massively, could you please (1) get rid of this awful up-rating and down-rating "fade-out" system and (2) add an EDIT feature so people can edit the typos in their own posts?

Or maybe just add a feature asking "How can we improve our site?" and then see what people have to say. ;)
