Feeling in an artsy mood? Then you'll be happy to know that Guild Wars 2 now has a forthcoming official art book entitled The Art of Guild Wars 2. The book will be hardbound and stuffed with 128 pages of work by ArenaNet's award-winning artists.
The official website touts that this book is a must-have for Guild Wars fans. If the concept art available online is any indication, that doesn't really seem like an overstatement. We wouldn't be too shy about putting some of these pieces of art on our walls in a nice frame, so huge a hardbound art book wouldn't be such a bad coffee table item. If you don't believe us, just take a look at the gallery.

Looks good. I like the cover, very stylized.

The art in the trailer was strikingly good. Hopefully, the actual graphics can live up to it, although that is rarely the case.

I've been drooling all over the official website and their art section. I don't usually go nuts over gaming art books but this one I'm going to try to get for sure. :)

Did you see the part in the trailer where the concept art changed to graphics? and vice-versa? It can live up to it. It can surpass it, I'll bet.

Exactly, from most of the concept art it gets put into the game, well graphics wise, very little of it gets changed. If this is the case for all the art then the game is going to be stunning. I will get the art book along with the novel, which I think they are coming out with sometime.
The city looks interesting by my two favorite right now is the city on the giant iceberg/snow, and the giant sea creature arms or whatever they might be flying out of the water.

While GW2 is interesting.......I just cant take another ncsoft game, regardless of how nice it may be or whom they subcontracted to.

Ncsoft has nothing to do with the marketing, release or content of Guild Wars. They own Arenanet, and Arenanet works on its own. Arenanet was working on Guild Wars 1 since before they were aquired by NCsoft. Tablua Rasa happened, as far as I can tell, because NCsoft let the game out before its time. Arenanet has never done anything that stupid. And seriously, It's not like you're funding terrorism, when you buy an NCsoft game. You're funding a producer, that like any major company, once made a big mistake. Do you expect them to do it again? If you give them a second chance, and the same thing happens, I wholeheartedly endorse your not-buying of NCsoft product. As it is, some of the money from buying GW2 will go to Arenanet, who are awesome. So that's a plus.

Not to mention you only have to buy the game once. No subscription fees are going to be icing on the cake. :D
