Just the other evening, Champions Online's lead designer Randy Mosiondz teased followers on Twitter with an image of one of the powers from an upcoming new power framework -- or power set if you like. According to Randy, light isn't too far off from the right guess, but we're guessing there's more to it than that. Another cool thing we've learned from Mr. Mosiondz's Twitter account is that an October event of some variety will be occurring as well.
So that means about two months after launching Champions Online, Cryptic is planning to provide players with at least one additional new set of powers plus some kind of event, although we don't know the details on it for the moment. Sounds like the party train is leaving earlier than most may have thought, which is only a good thing.
We should know more sometime very soon (as in later today, most likely) so keep your eyes peeled!

why would it? "anything that has an ingame effect will also be available to obtain for free ingame" having a new framework does have an ingame effect, so it will be available for free.
I believe MT's will be for vanity items such as non combat pets and costume pieces and for account services.

Sorry then disclaimer, for me, "can be earned ingame" means "free", sorry for any confusion.
As a player who has camped/farmed/wasted (select which you think appropriate) countless hours in MMO's for specific ultra rare/ unique/ vanity items, if it is available for free and I fancy it I can do it again to obtain it.
besides I can hardly believe anything will ever get a worse drop rate than many of the items in AO.

Man!! I totally wanted this for my toon, I played a dark/dark/dark defender in CoX and wanted to make a full swap this time around. Glad to see it's coming in, sad it didn't make the release cut =(

I had originally thought of a character idea i had in the old PnP version i wanted to make where it was light/darkness, but was sad that in open beta that i couldn't. This makes me giddy, but i hate to wait.

1. They're not going to MT the frameworks. They've said that too many times to count.
2. I hope, I hope, I hope, I hope this is the Celestial Framework. :D

The best part about this framework is they'll most likely counter it with a "Darkness" type of framework.

I suspect that this is just the first of many frameworks that we're going to see in the future. One of the advantages of going with the free-form build system that they've put into CO as opposed to the archetype system from CoX is that they don't have to focus so much on how one particular power set stack up against all the others. As long as any given framework has an energy builder, a tier 0 power and a minimum number each of tier 1, 2 and 3 powers it will work.
Each power only has to fit the balancing formula for that specific tier. Any places where one framework might be gimped compared to another are easily made up for by the players -- you simply select balancing powers from other frameworks as you build your character.
Sure, they still need to come up with art and possibly animations for new frameworks. But drastically reducing the balancing issues makes life so much easier for them to bring in new stuff.

Looks a helluva lot like the effects for Kinetics in CoH. Not saying that in a negative way, just that perhaps this is a similar type of framework. I'm sure a lot of people would be pleased with some castable movement speed buffs. Let the "SB PLZ!!!1!!1" begin?
