As we are just now recovering from BlizzCon and GamesCom last week, we realize we're not even close to being through the summer convention season yet. DragonCon in Atlanta, GA and PAX in Seattle, WA both start next week, and you can bet there are more than a few of us at Massively who will be attending these major conferences.
At DragonCon specifically, the Massively staff will be in full force as four of us plan to attend in one form or another. Some of us will be speaking at panels, some of us will be doing interviews and one of us is even on the MMO Track planning staff. And then there are the parties! Want to party with us? Follow along after the jump to learn where we'll be and how you can get your hands on some Massively swag.
If you've ever been to DragonCon before, you may be well aware of the epic parties thrown by Funcom each year. This year, we're proud to announce that we're teaming up with Funcom to throw one of the biggest parties ever!
On Friday, September 4th at 10pm EDT, you can join the Massively team at "FunCon", held in the Atrium level of Atlanta's Marriott hotel, rooms A601 and A602 (highlighted in gray on the right side of this map). There will be a live DJ, Funcom developers, special surprise guests and plenty of Funcom and Massively swag to go around. For more information on FunCon, check out the official announcement on their forums.
If that's not enough, you can also join us at the SOE party on Sunday night at 10pm EDT, although in a much less "official" capacity. We'll all be pretty slap-happy by Sunday night, so just come hang out with us! Of course you can always just say hi if you happen to catch us roaming between panels.
Next week we'll have more detailed information on where we will be at any given time, including who's attending, which panels we'll be hosting, booth demos and more. If you're planning on attending the event, let us know in the comments below. We hope to see you all there!

living in Atlanta, Dragoncon has always been a odd one for online games. They all this sci-fi / fantasy / comic things going on but only have two online game companies coming this year, that is all. Very weird.

That's not true at all, MrG! Not only are Sony and Funcom going to be there, but we'll also have representatives from AQ Worlds, Fallen Earth, Kingdom of Loathing, Fusion Fall, Runes of Magic, EVE Online, and possibly others that are escaping my mind at the moment.

Well that is news to me, why can't I find that any place on the DC website? The only thing I found was FunCom and Hi-rez. This is one reason me and friends don't go, we really can't find a good list of who ( the companies) will be attending.
Don't get me wrong, I am not knocking DC in anyway. It's great for Atlanta business. I think the website just needs some work done to make it more user friendly or more information on the attendants added. Well maybe I am knocking just the information that is on the DC site.

You can find more info on the MMORPG track at http://www.dc-mmo.org In fact, most of the tracks have their own websites where you can get more details about their guests and events. (The list of tracks on the main D*C website should have links to all of them.)
There are over 50 events this year in the MMO space, not to mention our World of Warcraft party which draws a pretty big crowd, even by Dragon*Con standards.
In fact, 7 WoW Events + events for Age of Conan, Warhammer Online, Lord of the Rings Online, Star Wars: The Old Republic, Champions Online, Fusion Fall, Force of Arms, City of Heroes, Guild Wars, Second Life, Anarchy Online, Star Wars Galaxies, Everyquest, EQ2, The Agency, DC Universe Online, Free Realms, Kingdom of Loathing, Runes of Magic, Fallen Earth, AdventureQuest Worlds, Global Agenda...
MMO Track guests include:
Felicia Day
CKKnight (you know... the WoW Addons guy? (and Warhammer Online... and...))
Richard Knaak and Keith R.A. DeCandido (WoW lore novelists)
Timothy Zahn (Yes, he writes MMO's too)
Aaron de Orive (Star Wars: The Old Republic, SWG, AO, and others)
6 Parties, a trivia contest, a Horde vs. Alliance Blood Drive...
But more to your original point... Part of the reason "Dragon*Con has always been an odd one for online games" is that we weren't a track until last year.

I'll be going as well, hope to see you guys at the FunCon panel. I'm probably gonna try and ask a few pre PAX Secret World questions, cause that's one of my main reasons for going (That and maybe seeing a few actors and getting some Babylon 5/Farscape stuff). Hopefully it will be a lot of fun, being my first time going.

I live in Atlanta and I've never been before. I'm not sure what days are the best to go. I just really wanna hang with the massively staff and play Earthrise. Is it free to get in?

The party is free but the pass for the convention is not. There is one day passes I believe for 35ish. www.dragoncon.org

Krystalle is working on a post for this morning, but I will be speaking at a GW panel at 1pm and we will be hanging around the MMO track most of the weekend.
