Brett Close has left the building, folks. The former 38 Studios CEO has recently resigned, being replaced by Jennifer MacLean, who until now had been senior vice president of business development. "I've had the privilege of building 38 Studios to become an established force of IP creation and entertainment," said Mr. Close, "I leave with confidence in the future success of the company and have no doubt its products will excite gamers worldwide." Of course, he's talking about Copernicus, which we're still in the dark on since the developer hasn't been keen to reveal it to the public.
Most noted for its founder and former MLB right-handed pitcher Curt Schilling, 38 Studios has been somewhat quiet for a while now. We're hopeful that their upcoming title encounters smooth sailing, but this industry certainly has its ways of tossing out a typhoon or two. If you're looking for some official word on the matter, then look no further,

What's hilarious about this is that 38-studios has yet to really create any IP or entertainment apart from a newsletter about WoW. Yeah, it's really an established force there. Copernicus has all of 5 pieces of background concept art in the public eye, released in 2008.
It's also really hard for us jaded, cynical gamers to believe in your company's future success when they, you know, fire the CEO they had from launch. Now would be a good time to release some actual info on your game, to counteract this.

Who says he's been fired? Bad or good in all honesty we can't say.
Doesn't affect my view on their upcoming title, still waiting to hear more concrete info before forming any opinions..

Always affects it on mine when a CEO resigns and is replaced by someone down the ladder. Barring health reasons or personal crises, if you resign from a company you either think you have much better prospects elsewhere or you were forced out. No one chooses to leave what they see as "future success" or an "established force."

People choose to leave excellent jobs all the time for personal reasons. The only way to know for sure is to see what the guy does next. It is very possible that the guy is one of those people who loves "startups" and once the company is solid and on course, he gets bored. Even more important, some people are great at starting up companies, but suck at running them after they get going.
To say he was fired without proof is ignorant.

Until more light is shed on it,I can't really say if it's good or bad.

We'll prolly never know whether he left for greener pastures or was forced out (tho as Dblade mentions above, why would anyone leave a place that has such "potential" (sic)).
Let`s hope for 38 Studios that they're actually working on something real, and not just vaporware - pumping out 5 concept art sketches every now and then isn't very convincing.
