It is undoubtedly one of the most gorgeous games on the Horizon, especially as that wasn't some FMV stuff but actual in game footage.

Looking forward to its release in order to re-earn my wings. ;)

It's scenes like that that really make me reconsider cancelling my pre-order, but unless the 1.5 patch adds depth to character development and the quest system, I'm not sure it really matters.

1.5 addresses the lack of quests. You should check out what it has before you write the game off.

Very Impressive. The idea of an instance where people can "Break" in looks like a very nice idea. And Aion is god damn gorgeous. Blood for Blood!

With the waste that's been laid to the Elyos starting zone, I can't help wondering what they're going to be doing there. Will there be a new starting zone for Elyos? Is something similar being done to the Asmodean starting zone? Will you start out in the original zone, but at some point in the storyline have to come back to the new version, creating a sense of nostalgia for having seen your "childhood home" trashed like that?

It's going to be great to see what the answers are!

This game is definitely not your typical Korean MMO. My friends and I have had a great time in the beta, and we're all looking forward to when it goes live. Of course, the same thing happened with AoC and WAR so we're not confident that the love will last. But one of the biggest advantages going for Aion is the fact that it's already been live for quite a while. It's been through its launch blues, and we already know that the bugs have been very well ironed out.

having tried to get a gm to explain a few things (on my bro's account) regarding pvp got me this reply in the mail a couple days later when i checked back, "buy the game, you will be pleased....." the rest was typical spin.

To see the massive (laugh) pvp battles was more than i could bear (grin) the high level folks doing all they could to hide and get to the lowbe areas and kill them was a portent of things to come. Not something that interests me in the least.

Do the devs of this game really think after the last open house fiasco that word of mouth wont hurt them somewhat? I will admit it looks better than some MMO's currently out but thats just shiny new car smell, the "promise" of content and the laughable attempt at making folks even think they were in a closed series of betas surely wont win over anyone, let alone the stellar (*snicker*) pvp, unless those folks think like mushrooms, eating the dev fertilizer that is fed to them and sitting in the dark 24/7.

Word of mouth hurts, they are not making any points here in the states, well, maybe a couple.

Yes, lets judge PvP and Endgame content in a limited, 3-day beta where the cap is set at 30! Better, since you have clearly experienced all the game has to offer in such short a time, why not write up a review for us and submit it to Eurogamer? Im sure they will proudly post it next to their lauded Darkfall review.

Sarcasm aside, word of mouth is actually helping them a lot, despite what you may think, most people are buzzed and eager to play the game. OFC in the long run it wont matter, as subscription numbers after the first month will plummet, as happens with all other MMOs in this age of WoW, but if Aion holds on to about 200k it will do fine.

Seriously, I know where you come from. You happen to be one of them WoW fanboi's that actually believe that game to be innovative and original. Let me clarify it for you in simple terms you might even get. There is nothing original about WoW or innovative. Well maybe the fact that they made it extremely easy for the crybaby fanboi crowd to do things that only hardcore could do before. Yet your type won't be happy till you can actually avoid the fight with Yogg Saron and buy the pics from him. I came from the Mal 'Ganis PvP server ( one of the oldest ), played from The Stress Test beta till about 2 months ago. After my first experience in Aion I have logged into WoW for a hot five minutes. There was nothing innovative about WoW's PvP as a matter of fact after L2 where even your own faction could kill you. WoW's so called PvP was laughable. Its "jump around in cirlces" hope you don't die this includes the so-called tough grind of Arena.
Now about WoW's false belief that it is original (haha) not even the lore. Most ripped of from Tolkein and in turn the Warhammer table top game universe. That they 'invented' the MMO genre (LOL) , NCSoft has actually been at it longer. There were Anarchy Online and UO long before. What wow did originate is the pandering to the "I can't kill it crybaby crown please nerf" , I mean really you do not even have to complete long tough chains to get a warlock and or Paladin epic mount anymore. Yes WoW's contribution to the genre was catering to the 'crybabies' at every turn. Sorry but I suspect you started WoW with the TBC xp or even WoTLK. Never seen Naxx when it was actually hard and a level 60 end game instance/Raid. And, to top it off you needed to be attuned to get 'in'.

Tell me does blizz pay you to come here and nyerk about games you obviously know nothing about? Yet here you are. I will tell you a lot of old school MMO gamers and old WoW players are turning to Aion. Why? Because it offers challenges that sadly not everyone will be able to complete. Near impossible bosses to kill.., etc. You see most of us do not mind grinding a little to achieve, unlike most WoW players. Tell me did they give you a purple for your nyerk here? Cause that how you get gear there either 'cry' or come nyerk about another game. One that looks and plays a 1000 times better than that old dinosaur you love so much? One with challenge written all over it? Go ahead nyerk all you want. Will not stop people from realizing that a challenging game that looks good and feels good will be worth playing.

What will really pee WoW people off is two fold, one NCSoft does not allow cheats aka Add-ons, never has never will. And two they never have ever pandered to the 'crybaby nerf crowd', and this is what really has you mad at them. One thing for you or anyone like you "easy mode game thatta way----->"

i like the idea of the whole pvpve but you just know its not going to happen, its gonna be like alot of games in some aspects and while the makers might like to think in epic scale battles players will put aside their grudges to face the common enemy i cant see it happening.

that being said it is one of the most beautiful looking games and i cant wait to give it a run

Except the players really don't have the choice. The Balaur balance out the sides and are freaking badass at the worst of times. If a side ignores them they'll pay for it, heavily. I do agree that the PvPvE thing is not a great step forward like they'd want you to believe, but it is something I personally love anyway and can't wait to get into it.

I feel the system gives both pve and pvp more meaning and depth, and though there will be gankage from time to time (inevitable in -any- competative multiplayer online game) the fact it will mean something, not just a way to farm for gear for instance, will make it great for me.

CAN'T WAIT! I've been wanting a new MMO to play for years now, Lineage 2 private servers are just getting worse and worse and smaller and smaller, Lineage 2 retail is a joke and WoW definitely isn't my game. I got the CE preordered already and will be there to get it the second gamestop opens :)

Playing mmo games on a private server is not only illegal and later coming to complaint about it on a forum for people that play games on real servers is just dumb.... You comment about WoW well that's understandable. WoW is not a game for everyone people that are graphic buffs and people that like free to play stuff or the kind of people that buy into hypes like this...

Does the US version use GameGuard as well or has that been stripped? Gameguard is one factor that might make me skip this.
