To me, this strategy is probably designed to attract those from a much younger generation to EVE

Being only 17 myself, i have only ever met three other players that i can confirm are under 20, and even so, everyone ive met has been 16+. I suppose the complexity of this game deters those who are unwilling to learn (how many school people really 100% willingly do their homework?)

But the true reason for this im pretty sure is in comparison to the older folks, 80% of the Mid to Late teens who could play this, own either an Xbox 360, PS3 or even both, and i personally hate having to move the mouse when i reach the end of the pad, or even the desk, which can sometimes mean life or death, being able to constantly scroll is certainly alot nicer. The more fluent realism of the turning on a Console is the future of FPS.

Ditto, though not surprising. That game is probably 4-5 years off anyway.

And dust 514 being a console game to control Eves Sov LOLs Epic fail sauce gimme a fps rts on the PC, the only idea that was more epic fail sauce then that one was..... Hey let's make a near WoW clone, slap in this new concept of RvR and some shitty public quest and call it Warhammer..... then not follow through on any of the promises until 1 year later and once the community has already shunned playing it or even the idea of trying it. When will people do shit right from the beginning..... Ill tell you why too many Chiefs and not enough Indians, get one team of people to figure out what peoples burning desires are for the next MMO, turn most popular ideas into CODE put the shit in Boxes and laugh all the way to the bank its like that simple....... And no one recently can get that stuff right, its rucking fediculous these companies are just throwing away money...... and Ill never get it

This announcement makes one thing certain.

Eve is here to stay. And so is Dust. If things go well after initial release, the two are essentially married. What effects one will directly effect the other both in the game and in real life.

CCP has thrown their chips into a long term game. It's obvious from this release that their plan is to keep Eve around indefinitely.

As an eve player, I have faith that CCP's attention to Eve and Eve's development aren't going to be significantly altered or abandoned any time in the near future.

Dangerous. Will people outside Eve affect my sovereignty and I cannot fight back? (I really do not want to pay for a shooter, I suck at that kind of of gameplay).

can I play it with an eve account?
will my starship skills be able to affect those pesky ground troops like they affect my sovereignty?
is the death penalty comparable to the one in eve?

That is really really cool news to me. As far as I'm concerned, the more integration, the better. The ultimate feature for me would be to allow 'walking in stations' to be a kind of middle ground for EVE and DUST avatars to interact directly rather than just via contracts.

I don't like it that much, lets see small alliance no or little console owners, little love or experience for FPS, not as an illogical scenario how can you keep your SoV is the enemy alliance includes console FPS fans?

I might have missed it but what impact does EVE have on dust? and more importantly how will the economic interaction go? will ISK go out of EVE? can you bribe a dust corporation to do your ground war and if ISK cannot be traded what assets as an EVE player can you have to motivate those mercs?

I was hoping to see something about ambulation before that to be honest.

-Eve- the Universe as we will know it. The battles, as we fight them. The fleets will assemble, the troops will fight, we will die trying. This is what gives a game Heart, Soul, and NEED. We as humans need this to keep us interested. A sense of purpose, a sense of making a difference, a sense of comradery.

Kudos to this next evolution to a game that i have enjoyed for 6 yrs, Yes 6 now.

I was just pondering this a few hours ago. There are going to be a lot of recruitment ads similar to this, where alliances will look towards gathering players to the fold well in advance of the finished product. I'm curious how much the cross over rate between the two genres will have, how many corps/alliances will have dedicated squads trained and ready to go on launch.

Question to you will be the same as any potential corp recruiting; does my entry into your Dust corp allow entry into your EVE corp and alliance as well?

This is exciting I don't play consul games but this game and my love of EVE is enough to make me want to buy an X-Box.

DUDE! I was thinking of selling my XBox360. I'll keep it if DUST 514 isn't mindless deathmatch. Maybe some accessible information about targets and tactics would make the shooter experience friendlier for people who want to MMOplay on a console shooter. Good idea through CCP. It sounds like they want to add more strategy, and hopefully tactics, to the shooter experience.

If planetary conflict is all we'll see right now, in the future I wanna see orbital bombardments, atmospheric battles, infantry conflicts in stations, pirate bases, and wormhole space establishments; and ship boarding parties!

The EVE world is so cool, I would hope we will have some RP in the FPS, like really getting into some gritty EVE story lines on foot.

I just don't know if I'll have the money to buy an X-Box 360 for it though and another online prescription, so maybe walking in stations in EVE will be able to take part some time?

I would hate to miss out on this.

But the stories So awesome to actually live them on foot, there will be Role play missions with story and atmosphere along with FPS?

It's a fail move.

You all are looking at it from the perspective of people heavily invested in EVE. I can tell you right now that no console players really care about EVE or it's universe, and I really, really doubt CCP games will be able to generate gameplay to make it stand out versus other upcoming and current FPS. EVE gets by because no one really directly competes with it in the MMO sphere, but even with MMO elements, consoles are saturated with FPS, and MMO's have never really broken into it beyond a few.

If SOE couldn't get decent results from Everquest Online Adventures, and SE has maybe at best 20% of its players on console despite being the only game in town, CCP isn't going to do well at all. You'll see it launch, peak at 10-20k subs, and watch as they retcon every Dust mechanic back out of EVE when it folds.

Think some people have got the wrong end of the stick
a: this is NOT a replacment for ambulation (if anything this is the planet capture idea dust is explained as an fps/"rts" hybrid probably similar to bf2 were 1 player is the commander, check ccps description of capturing planets and its described as an rts) if you check eve onlines site and look at future updates walking on stations is still there. (i personally think the reason theyre putting it in, in the 1st place is to "meet" the merc soldiers face to face and hire them)
b:nowhere has it been said capturing a planet goes toward sovereignty more like this is to capture the planets resources for the faction/alliance (imo i reckon sovereignty of a system will be upto the fleet if an alliance/faction wants the resources on a planet they will have to hire merc corps to capture it)

so i dont personally believe this will drastically change eve ccp arnt stupid they will try this out and make it so if it fails its not really going to effect eve. If anything this could be useful to alliances if they add some objectives to dust such as ground based orbital weapons to help out the fleets above e.g missile silos, ground based support weapons like jammers warp scramblers etc

Hmm... Don't know. I really like the concept, and I have confidence in CCP's implementation abilities, but I'm not sure the console shooter "community" is a good match for the EvE setting. I'm expecting a lot of dick jokes, a lot of emoragewhine, and WAY too many 12 year olds whose response to being told to maintain comms discipline is a long stream of profanity.
It's also pretty unlikely that I'll ever play it myself since I'll never buy a console until they do away with those horrible controllers and make a mouse & keyboard the standard interface. Even then, I'd rather use a PC.
