If they took Orignial EQ stopped at Vellious and re-made it with top of the line graphics/UI, I would never look for another MMO again.

Well, Call me a thick headed man, but i feel Runescape needs a gfx update, Sure it's nice n nifty, and they are looking to improve the gfx of the game, however, I LOVED the old RS, when your character was still 2D, i loved it.

LOTRO

The world is beautiful but the character models need a big update. If the characters looked as good as the world then LOTRO would be the most stunning MMO on the market (screw you AOC fans, it doesn't come close :-)

It would be WoW for me. They won't get rid of their cartoony style, but they don't need to. That's their established style and -- love it or hate it -- it sets the game apart.

But with the use of things like bump, normal and/or parallax mapping they could make the world come alive in a way that would be very appealing. Grassy surfaces, walls and trees would actually be rough. Armor would show layered details and texture. Everything would have a richness rather than looking so flat.

At the same time, there are many textures that could be redone at higher resolution. For example, water and ground textures that currently look so bad from the air (or even a hilltop).

If they're truly reworking Azeroth with Cataclysm then it's possible we might actually see at least some of this happening. Regardless, I think a lot more people would really like WoW style if it had this extra level of detail to it.

I totally agree. I like the style in WoW, but it looks very dated now.

My other choice would be City of Heroes. That's another game where I like the style, but the graphics are starting to look old.

I would even say DaoC. With an overhaul in graphics and UI, it'd probably do better sub-wise than WAR.

Agreed, with updated graphics DAoC would definitely give WAR a run for its money.

Another vote for AO. A great game that I go back to every 6 months or so but it is hard to look at.

For me, if EQ2 would redo their graphics engine entirely to make it on par with other mmo's (performance wise) - I'd go back and never think twice about trying another mmo :P I know they keep "optimizing shadows", but that doesn't really mean much when most people have to turn them off to get a decent framerate. I know alot of people don't have problems running it, but they could easily double their base if it was more accessible to lesser gaming systems.

I would like to see LotRO get an update to their character models. It's such a gorgeous game world with some of the best scenery in any game, but it still has those models that look like they were ripped right from DDO to save development time. Maybe the next expansion! *crosses her fingers*

UO or Asheron's call

Anarchy Online is a great choice also but I thought they were working on upgrading the graphics engine? I remember looking at screenshots about 2 years back.

EQ definitely needs a facelift. I would love to see the exact same gameplay, but with new graphics.

Problem with EQ are all the "fans of pre luclin" gfx that would cry rivers about a revamp to EQ'd gfx.

I'd love to see EQ fully made over with a smooth fast up to date engine driving it & all the zones redone but keeping the original layouts, & new models for the player characters with tons more cistomisation to characters & armours.

Other than EQ CoH/CoV needs a gfx update, specifically it need s a full overhaul of its jerky animations, no more running like you are on splints.

Dark Age of Camelot.

I quit DAoC when I got frustrated with its RvR (PvP) but found out many years later that it was the best PvP system in any MMO.

If they upgraded the engine and got a major influx of subscribers I'd be back in a second to do some Relic raids.

AC
Shadowbane

Or any game that made decent PvP that was all about fun and competition. Not another time sync to grind gear in.

anarchyonline graphics update trailer
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bRmk0hZam7A

never going to happen imo, the game is on skeleton crew status as is, and with the work being done for AoC's come back as well as their new MMO, i don't see this happening.

the trailer just puts "reflect" effects on textures already in game and adds 3d grass, you can't polish a turd into a diamond. game needs a sequel more than just a new coat of paint.

I'd like to see UO or SWG redone - I mean really redone. SWG holds up surprisingly well, and UO's gotten several graphical upgrades, but they could both use a heavy dose of love. UO in particular needs to chuck the isometric view of 1997 and get a full 3D client. As persistent worlds rather than RPGs, these two are timeless, and possess more replayability than your standard EQ/WoW-clone.

I agree. If UO did that and kept the original gameplay I'd be there!

My vote for AO as well.

Full engine/graphics and character models update.

I'd be all over Anarchy Online with Age of Conan graphics.

I still play AO anyways though. The newer titles just got too bland to me the more easier they became. so I decided to go back to the good 'ol days ;)
