Pfft.. Money. If you had said you pay with beta keys, or beer I would have been game, but now; not so much.

For Anyone with a true passion for the industry and blogging this is one of those once in a lifetime things, i know personally if i had the aptitude for blogging id enter in a heartbeat.

These kind of industry based jobs are the best kind of foot in the door you can get, not only to express your self within the industry but make a name for yourself.

I can kinda write, but have no history with image editing or HTML so, oh well :(
Sounds like it would be a pretty fun job though!

Re: HTML and image editing.

Most of this is about writing, of course -- but a little bit of knowledge about these things goes a long way in helping your writing look its best.

Most of the time, you don't need to know anything about HTML. But knowing a bit of HTML can help you format your posts better. (Yes, we use a WYSIWYG tool to write posts, but there's a lot more you can do with HTML.) And sometimes, something goes wrong. Maybe you've cut and pasted something that had some extraneous HTML code in it. This can make a mess of your work and sometimes the entire site. You need to know a little bit about to figure out what's wrong and fix it.

As to image editing, you at least need to be able to grab images and resize them to fit in your postings. If you know more, sometimes this comes in handy for turning a boring screenshot into something more interesting. Take the screenshot from this post, for example... it's pretty, but kind of dull (though I did think it was a nice "hero embarking on an epic quest" shot). It could have been a lot more interesting with a funny speech bubble or a giant angry Hello Kitty menacing our hero. A great image is nearly as important as a great post.

Same here. I can write. I actually have always wanted to write. But that is another story. I digress. The HTML factor is the killer here. Oh, well. I'll stick to commenting on blogs for the rest of my dismal life. :D

This is a cut and paste of something I replied to someone else, but I wanted to be sure you saw it, so here goes:

If I was a writer I would apply. Good luck to those who apply. I think MrAngry should apply. :)

An awesome opportunity to peek into the gaming universe under the hood so to speak... I can write a little, and know HTML, CSS, and even Flash Actionscripting. I LOVE MMO's. On the surface it would seem perfect for me save one issue:

Time

I just don't have the time, sure I pop over to massively daily for a read or two but I just don't have the time to put together entire articles. Part of me wishes you guys did take a volunteer article from time to time I'd love to do something like that as my schedule allows, but my full time 40 hr job as a graphic designer pretty much overrides anything else time-intensive I could take up other than my MMO's I play.

I second that. I love MMOGs and have written a number of articles on my own blog, but there's no way I would be able to write one every day...knowing the latest bug fixed in some upcoming beta isn't what I give a crap about. Once a week perhaps.

This definitely sounds like a great opportunity. I would be delighted to apply and see where I stand. Here's hoping that all the money I spent on my Master's degree pays off :)

Well this is a very tempting offer which I am almost willing to take them up on, however I am not entirely sure that I have the ability to write articles free of spelling and grammatical errors, let alone articles that thousands of visitors to the site will enjoy reading.
However, for those that are thinking of applying or have already applied then you have my best wishes and respect and I hope that you do well.
