The Daze of Darkfall blogs and a few others have shown how interesting personal stories gathered from the game can be. If you could narrate an interesting interaction per week, in addition to the picture journal, that would be great.

this should prove interesting, i was in the LOTRO beta and while it's not a *bad* game it had far too many WoW conventions to convince me to switch to it from WoW or add it to my list of MMO's I'm playing (GuildWars, FFXI, & WoW)

so it could be interesting to see how things are deeper into the game.

I did the Beta as well, and about 3 weeks ago, just started playing again.

Things I like better in LOTR compared to WOW:

Quest tracking (also coordinate system)
Crafting
Fast travel between zones
No cesspool of a chat channel
A More friendly player population
The ability to play any song on an instrument (Iron Butterfly ftw)
Distinction between classes
No need to be uber geared for raids.
Not being overloaded with quests
Games isnt trying to balance for both PvP and PvE, which I havent found a game that succeeds at both

Well I would have thought that the look and feel of the game would seem more polished than WoW... I can't comment too deeply but from what I have seen the graphics look far superior compared.

But you CAN play a female dwarf! Note that in character selection, there's no male/female identifier. Players choose "dwarf" and roleplay them as male or female, whichever their preference.

Not that it matters, as hobbit burglar is currently winning - and as someone who plays a hobbit, that's what I'm rooting for! ;)

Not enough EVE filler? So you folks are forced to do this again? It wasnt interesting the first time around, note the small number of blog remarks, so why would you think it will work a second time?

Tell ya what, Create a corp in EVE and take down goon, that might be worth reading about.

LotRO good choose, well I voted but I am not sure about the classes maybe you need add a little bit of info to the poll for the people that not really known LotRO.

Anyway I will follow your Adventure!

Some short videos of key story/toon moments will be really great!

Well, at the moment it seems Male/Human/Warden is in the lead by a hair. Which is cool cause that's what I just started playing a few hours ago.

Will you be announcing the server you'll play on? With Guild Wars that wasn't necessary but LOTRO is another kettle of fish.

I have played a lot of toons in lotro (I have a max LM but the newbie levels keep puling me back) and I think I like female elves and hobbits the best. The Shire is the best newbie zone imo. Not the fastest to level but the most lore-packed and colorful.

For a challenge I think burglars are fun and interesting at low levels, same for loremasters. The more straight forward classes bore me me a bit. Wardens and RP (at low levels) were decently complicated to play but easier.

Definitely go for the level 20 no-death title. I think it is probably a good deal easier now than at launch but it is still an interesting challenge that makes you play a lot more intently if you are one of the less powerful classes.

If you have not played a Warden or RK, that's what I suggest. Many of the people that havn't played since before Moria would like to know how they are. I personally love the Warden, the animations are great, the abilities are really cool, and he's sort of a selfish buffer. Wardens get many many buffs, but they are all just his own personal buffs. So there's alot of variety for alot of situations.

Warden is supposed to be a good class, so I voted for it.

LotRO wasn't my choice (I want to see Shawn playing something he hasn't played before) but it will be interesting to see how this turns out.

LotRO is a very fine game. I got about as far as the early part of Moria and lost interest, but the game itself is certainly very well made.

I especially liked:
--The armors (so much better than the garish apparel on WoW)
--The landscapes
--The classes
--The crafting
--The epic storyline (of course)

My biggest peeve in LotRO was getting stuck trying to find groups for the epic quests (those requiring groups). Like most long-running, level-based MMOS, LotRO is suffering from thinning lower-level populations and, as far as I could tell, Turbine was not addressing the problem.

Still, I look forward to reading this series. I only got as far as the Great Delving (the first zone) in Moria, before fizzling out and heading back to WoW.

Moria is just depressing, if you can get to lvl 57 then go out into Lothlorien, it is very pretty :D

Hobbit Guardian thanks, then when you are main tanking you can use your racial skill (play dead) and all the mobs on you will wipe your fellowship.

You should have definitely put in a poll for server by the way! Some are so empty that you will never see another person, let alone find a group.

To address some points above:

Sorry Wwishie, since you played you now MUST be uber equipped to do the 2 endgame raids in the game. If you don't have 6/6 radiance or even more you will cower before the boss and never be able to even fire off one skill. That uber gear for this gear gating will take 36+ instance grinds to get.

As for Female Dwarves, you would be surprised to see the number of these bearded kneehighs in dresses.
