Update: These prologue videos WERE enabled this past beta weekend. I guess our assumption was correct! Thanks Zhiril!
As you might have gathered from our past Aion closed beta coverage, your first steps into the world of Atreia are a bit confusing. Currently, new characters are unceremoniously dumped into the world with a nasty bout of amnesia, with no idea of who they are or why they are there. The first ten levels of the game are all about regaining your memories and getting your destiny back on track.
NCsoft just released two new prologue videos and it seems like they would make perfect game introduction sequences. The Elyos prologue introduces players to the nasty Balaur creature featured later on in their destiny quests. The Asmodian prologue shows off the gray-haired Elyos warrior players do battle with in their destiny quests.
It appears that both videos take place in the Abyss and culminate in a severe bump to your character's noggin, which sends him or her crashing back down to either Elysea or Asmodae (depending on your faction). When you awaken, you no longer remember your past nor do you possess the powers of a full-fledged daeva.
Check out the videos after the cut!

That's what I get for skipping one beta weekend! Sheesh! Thanks for the update. I will make a minor correction above. Cheers.

Yeah, apparently the patch was almost 500 MB! I also read that the 1.5 patch is going to be almost near 2 GB. Normally, I wouldn't have a problem with this, but their patch servers aren't exactly 'fast'. That 500 MB patch alone was downloading at a trickle. Come on, NCSOFT, get your game face on already!

Why is Asmodian Prologue so short and not nearly as epic as the Elyos one?

I don't know, the Eylos one just turned out longer I guess.

Epic my ass!
What a cliché load of bullocks. War between light and darkness..... like I haven't heard that a thousand fucking times.
And I thought I hated it before. God, the more I watch, the more I realize these hacks don't have a imaginative bone in their body.
Lame.
You get no points, no points for you!
At least Warhammer looked cool, even if it was just a big ol' hype bubble.

It's not just light vs darkness, and it isn't that at all. (there is no clear cut good/evil except for the Balaur who are obviously evil. It's more of two waring sides with different ideals and a third, indifferent side which actually is evil) If you're going to critique the story at least understand it first. Funny enough a 2 minute long video can't quite explain it.
I doubt you actually care though.

What it is, it light vs dark vs + (which in this case is choas/evil..... where have I heard that before?)
It's good vs good vs evil then, wow, what a game changer.
We have a new challenger!
(incidentally, to simply right them off as evil is in itself, cliché. It's a cop out)
And I wasn't critiquing the story, but rather the video, because it does portray the story in a cliché, unoriginal fashion, much like almost everything that has come out of the woodworks about Aion.
Sure, if you get into the nitty-gritty you might find a sliver of original story telling, but the point of these videos is to want you to see more, and on that point, they fail.
They couldn't even make an appealing battle sequence, FFS.

Darn. The video is not totally original. Good thing the game is amazingly fun though. I suppose I can look passed the videos that Yoh finds derivative, you know, since the game is so fun and all! : )

Give it a couple of months mate, just wait until that new-game shine wears off. Then you'll probably realize it's still the same game you were already playing.
(assuming of course, that your not new to MMO's, in that case, have at it hoss)

Not new to MMOs and been playing Chinese Aion quite a while. After playing WoW for over 4 years (DAoC for 4 years before that) its a breath of fresh air. Witnessing the dumbing down of WoW I was thinking I would never see another game that felt like "Vanilla" WoW", much less DAoC, thankfully Aion shows me I was wrong.
Love the game. Couple of niggling little issues but nothing major. Its a great game.

But "Vanilla WoW" was not all that great and its an old worn out design; Blizz has learned from their past mistakes and has improved the game with every x-pac thats why they try to usher you through "Vanilla WoW" so quickly now. I don't think that saying Aion is like old skool wow is a very good compliment.

Actually, the Asmodian prologue is alot different than the Elyos! The Asmodian's prologue is a premonition about your future demise which you promptly decide to change. I think you should get this your info double checked next time. Just an FTI. ;)
