One of the downsides of an ever-expanding game is the time it takes a new player to "catch up" to the majority of the player-base. Most people are kicking it in some groovy expansion while others might be stuck on old long-abandoned content. Nexon has identified the need to speed their players through certain areas of MapleStory and has taken one of the more common routes to do so: they have announced that the game's experience curve has been boosted. Players from level 11-30 will get experience 50% faster than before. From 31-200 the bonus is decreased slightly, down to a still-significant 25%.
The temporary experience boosts that were granted for recent events were apparently received very well by MapleStory players, and this approval is what led to the permanent increase. Nexon America's VP of Marketing Min Kim helped to make the announcement: "The world of MapleStory is considerably larger than when it was first released. Accelerating the EXP rates empowers old and new users alike to better explore the MapleWorld." The new exp curve is already in effect, so what are you waiting for? Go level a Cygnus Knight!

Yah but have they made the game fun? I mean with games like Free Realms showing how a cheaper game can run ... does MapleStory even matter anymore? I know people love it but time to move on....there are so many better choices.

That graph says, to me, that experience is reduced at higher levels. Coming later and slower.

The dependent is level, while independent is exp.
The old curve is steeper than the newer one, and goes up further as well. This means that the amount of exp needed in the older one goes up much faster. The new one reduces the necessary amount while softening that curve so its more rounded out.
Least that's how I interpret it. What's being said though seems to go against what the graph shows, since it only says xp gain is being boosted, and not the needed amount. The end still matches to me, but the means seem different.
(Of course I could just be misreading it while still grasping the basic concept XD)

The weird thing about the graph is actually the ridiculously long tail, which seems to imply that the curve is only changing for the final 20 levels or so. It's possible that the change is difficult to visualize, but more likely this graph is just a fanciful illustration.
