Please don't take my comment above out of context. It was a reply to a blog spammer, whose comments were removed. I'm not sure why they left mine hanging here like that... =\

I pre-ordered and I stayed up until 4 in the morning playing to 10th level. The game is super fun, with a great storyline, awesome graphic and cool combat options. Customizing your character is really nice and the game plays really smooth. I found the game focused my character throughout the 10 levels and so far I haven't hit any grind.

I would suggest trying out this game!

Man, I want to like this game so bad, if that makes any sense.

It's just so damn pretty, and I have nothing else good to play at the moment, and not much else in the near future coming out that has piqued my interest (except CO, but no way in hell I'm gonna give Cryptic any money).

I'm just having a really hard time actually having fun in the game. I really hope the endgame PvP is phenomenal, but as of now, it's just so much of the same ol', same ol', and quite "grindy" to boot.

Let me get this straight. You really want to play a game from NC Soft who has a long history of MT shops even in addition to subscriptions. But then you say there is no way you're giving Cryptic any money who just announced their first plans for a MT shop.

NCsoft may very well have a history of MT, but I have yet to encounter it in the only two NCsoft games I've played, which is Guild Wars and now Aion. In other words, whatever history they may have is completely irrelevant to me.

Care to show me where you've read Aion will have MT? Didn't think so...

Besides, I don't have an issue with MT specifically, what I do have an issue with is having to buy Box+Xpacks+Sub+MT.

While Guild Wars may have had some MT, I don't recall them selling any in-game items, at least not when I played. They were only services, much like Blizzard's, and PvP-only unlocks. Things that didn't affect my game in any way whatsoever. Besides, GW did not require subs at all, so any MT's they did have were perfectly fine by me.

So, no, as it stands, I have no qualms with NCsoft. If they ever try to follow Cryptic's model, I'll be sure to avoid that game, but until then, they're fine by me.

Is that straight enough for you?

I am with you. I too would really like to enjoy this game, but for some reason I just don't. It looks great but is missing something to make it enjoyable and I am unable to place my finger on what that something is for me.

I can understand why people will like it and hope it is successful. Perhaps after it has come out and some friends have gotten somewhere in it I will find that missing something. Until then, I hope everyone else enjoys the game!

Looks great. I'm digging the creativity in character design, very imaginative environments, all around cool fantasy stuff.

I won't be buying right at release - and I don't want to hype it up too much like I did with Warhammer. But I do have a lot of faith that Aion can build up a decent sized chunk of loyal subscribers. After a patch or two, just to make sure 90% of the population doesn't jump ship after their first 30/60 days, I'll pick it up.

Just in case you weren't aware, the game will be launching at v1.5, so I think much of the typical MMO launch maladies have been assuaged.

If the localization beta is any indication, the game should be quite polished at launch.

Not trying to sway your decision to wait, as that's always a safe move, just thought you might like to know.

No worries, I'm aware of the 1.5 patch and that's actually why my hopes are so high. I think Aion will launch with a level of complete-ness that hasn't been seen in ages from a new MMO. Even the 3rd beta weekend at version 1.0 (only one I've played) had a refreshing level of polish. Having already been out in Asia for a while will put them at a huge advantage over other new games for the Western audience.

Their flagship titles don't have MT's. At all. if a game is going to be MT they announce it. Aion is subscription based on the other countries it's released in, and won't be going MT. The only reason any game goes MT after it launches, that wasn't before is a game that fails on all levels to bring in ANY income, and even then, there are only a small handful of games in MMO history to make that change. It wont happen here. This game is very fun, and it is not a grind like some will assume. Right now we play the beta up to level 25, and none of the quests past then are in our game right now.
