I'm going to leave this alone. I'm not playing anymnore, so I can't comment about how htings are now. But, I will say: LotD was the nail in the coffin for me.

Personally, I'm really interested in the EA meeting on the 3rd(? I think?) and we find out what the numbers are on WAR.

"As a result, Tier 4 open RvR is back in full force, with warband-on-warband skirmishes, epic Keep battles, and lots of Scenario action going on."

Wow, really? Which server, or more importantly what game? I'll bet he's talking about the first week after one of their newest and continuing server merges that was forced on it's players again.

This whole response is a joke of a response. Seeing quotes like: "We saw a large surge of players flocking to the new areas, and enjoying all of the exciting and innovative new content and RvR battles that the Land of the Dead offered." when asked about the negative reaction to the poll, just tells me they're in PR mode still and not taking their players seriously. It makes me laugh when developers call their own product "exciting" and "Innovative" when their own players are saying the complete opposite. Ostrich syndrome FTL.

You're 100% correct. It's a PR response, not someone that is actually paying attention.

I gave up on WAR, hopefully Aion delivers what WAR continually fails to.

Although I am a current WAR player (and yes, RvR has ramped up alot) I am also a DAoC vet and I see this game on the fast track of ALL the same mistakes they made with that one.
Of course LotD takes from RvR, duh, it takes folks out of the RvR areas. I'm no rocket scientist but even I can tell you that. Its that lame "darkness falls" crap all over again.
Same company, same mistakes. Mythic launches decent games then rips them to shit within a year or two.
Sorry, I like the game but it's going the way of DAoC fast. I figure this game has about a year of life left in it on it's current track and maybe it will get a month or two more out of me cause I don't really see anything that worthwhile in it. The RvR isn't turning out to be all that to brag about IMHO (tier 4) I like the classes but it feels like a shooter map and not an MMO.

The Land of the Dead trailer looked great but the game is still crap.

- The engine is bad.
- You can't swim under water.
- Combat is bad.
- classes are boring and unbalances with Ranged being OP like in DAOC.
- It doesn't look or feel like warhammer and wheres the gore?
- Animations are poor.
- The world design is bad and doesn't even feel like a world and it's too big to have good RVR. I mean whats the point of having The Orcs/dwarves and the Elves areas? It's all empty.
- The PVE is just really boring.
- Scenarios kill world PVP and they're crap
- RVR is just the zerg wins where melee have no chance
- Crafting sucks
- Not really much to do in the game
- Public Quests are empty and arn't that fun anyways

I could go on it's just not a good game and when I log in I just get the feeling like I done this all before years and years back and it was much better then. I wanted the game to get me into warhammer and I expected it to have the art style of the cinematic which is Warhammer to me and instead it just looked like a generic version of WoW. The whole game feels generic and the whole concept art style doesn't come out in the game at all. All the stuff Paul said about like the Squigg eating you and you're controlling it with it's guts doesn't happen.

Land of the Dead looks great i loved the trailer but just a shame the rest of the game is so crap.

Wow, that's thought-for-thought the same as my feelings about WAR. Freaky!

I certainly don't want to be a 'WAR-basher'; it'd be akin to verbally abusing a 70yr old marathon runner who's coming last.. not cool at all and respect where it's due.

BUT, surely, with so many ex (and current) players repeatedly mentioning the same reasons for their concerns, you'd think it's about time for EA-Mythic to take stock?

I agree, this isn't Warhammer. This is just a cheap parody of Warhammer.

I doubt the numbers sliding has all that much to do with Wrath. I myself quit WoW for WAR, but I sure a hell didn't go back either. Another 50$ for a new round of rep to grind and 10 more lvls and recycled content. No thanks. I feel sorry for Mythic they could have had quite a game. With just a bit more reasonable PvE and no instanced RvR(Scenario's really sucked IMO). Pure open RvR with zones for CTF and the like would have been great. O ya and don't forget some EFF'n class balancing. =] Also a cleaner client at launch would have been a big bonus(Memory Leak FTL). =p

Eh what? I think almost all reviews of Wrath were unanimous in saying that it was the best piece of content Blizzard has produced for WoW. Period. If WoW isn't your thing any more, more power to you. However, if you even mildly enjoyed the past content, I would give Northrend a try before dismissing it.

I think part of the problem with"Warhammer online" is that it's nothing like "Warhammer" (either the fantasy battles or RPG) it's a same ol', same ol' MMO.

It was designed to be similar to DAoC and play like WoW but none of that has anything to do with the Warhammer world.

Do you remember the first Warhammer Online? The one that was being done long before Mythic had it, which never came out? That was more like the real Warhammer. It focused on the darkness of the setting like the Warhammer RPG does. I wish they would've made Warhammer more like that, instead of just turning it into a silly cartoon.

What polls were they looking at? Not at one point did they seem to try to explain why such a large portion of their playerbase if upset with the RVR's current state.

The polls are inaccurate cause everything is fine, they said it themselves. RvR is doing great, and people are enjoying the new innovating and exciting content of LotD. There are always a few people who complain, but most people are really happy, that's why the population has increased now that LotD is live.

It should be noted that the people who are pissed are way more likley to respond in any given survey. If the survey was given in game at startup and every account logging in was polled, you'd probably collect different stats.

That said.

I'm a bit tired of everyone ragging on WAR. Mostly because everyone rags on WAR and WOW like crazy, and then pines for the next game, whereupon a month in they start ragging on it just as hard or harder than the last two, wherupon you have people going back to the games they 'fled' from and clogging chat with "Yeah this game sucks, almost as bad as _____".

If war had have been released after WoTLK, it wouldn't have lost so many players. The main fault of the game still seems to be that it made exactly the same mistake EQ2 did at launch by trying to race to the launch date. If WAR had a healthier player base, I wouldent have quit the first time when I couldent get into RVR almost at all after WoTLK came out and my server's population dropped. Eventually I quit and played WoTLK until I hit 70 and raided and got bored, and last week I re-instated WAR on Iron Rock. It's a good game, we just expected a whole lot from it. Given some nourishment and care, I'm fairly sure it could grow into a fantastic MMO..but it's never going to happen if people continue to piss and moan so loud. Right now my least favorite part of the whole game is Regional chat :/

I agree with you completely Mudsoul. In nearly every decent game I've played, the mood is brought down by people in general chat ragging on whatever game their currently in(1). It doesn't do anything to help fix the game, it damages overall player moral(2), and it breaks player immersion in the world. I often find myself leaving the regional chat in many MMO's, but unfortunately they are the only way to find a group in some cases.

I wish the WAR team the best as they continue to search for a way to let WAR live up to our expectations.

(1). In older games this seems to come from veteran players who want their game to remain an exclusive club.
(2). As a new player coming into a game that I think I'll enjoy, having a bunch of people constantly expressing how much it sucks(even though they still play it) does nothing for my excitement, and has the ill effect of undermining my desire to continue playing. After all, a large part of the MMO experience is the community.

People rag on WAR because the game engine and the networking code behind it are HORRIBLE, serving to do nothing but drag the game down.

Even this far post release, the combat engine is still lagged (not simply connection lag, the engine itself is very unresponsive) and still performs like a dog in populated areas.

WAR is on the fast-track to sub 100k~ville, especially when AION ships with an engine that doesn't feel like playing in jello.

The poll may have had more substance if it was conducted on the official WAR forums where the votes would have been cast by people actually playing the game. It is no secret that the Vault and WHA forums are havens for everyone with a hate-on for WAR and of course they are going to vote the most negative result.

Nice way to try and negate those of us that actually were paying customers and did vote for the negative.

I canceled recently because of what LoTD did and what Mythic did not do. Fix the problems.
