"The announcement of the Twilight MMO made many book fans...."

Really? Out of the 3 pages of comments I read this morning, I think only two commentors were postive.

Oooooh. Arcanum. Not something I thought I would hear mentioned, I think the "obscura" in the name unfortunately kinda applies to the game. But yeah, the whole steampunk setting of industrial revolution vs magic would certainly bring a flavourful setting that you dont see much of.

I really don't think that many IPs other than Star Wars and LOTR are suited to an MMO. (Star wars takes place in a huge galaxy, and LOTR has huge armies and battles. And most of the other ones that do aren't very good. I prefer a kind of MMO like Guild Wars: one that uses fantasy, but puts it's own unique twist on it. AKA: No more IP MMO's for me, plox.

Seriously, the world needs a gritty Wild West MMO, one that tells the story from the Native Americans' and the Colonizers' perspective.

Or...a MMO based on writer China Mieville's "New Crobuzon" universe.

Mechwarrior

If I had the money i would develop these by myself. It's just too easy so please, Warner Brothers, Nintendo and whoever the hell owns the video game rights to Mechwarrior get this done. I will design these games for minimum wage if you would like.

I have to say Steven Erikson's Malazan series would make an absolutely AMAZING MMO!! The world is so incredibly detailed with a rich backstory, great use of magic, interesting plotlines and characters. Would be awesome!!

I have always said the series Dragonriders of Pern by Anne McCaffrey would make an awesome MMO. Ride a dragon and fight thread! These have been my favorite books since I was a teenager.

As much as I would love a battletech MMO, I would love even more a Phantom Crash one. It was probably one of the best original Xbox games people didn't know about.

Rumbling in the neglected areas of Old Tokyo with your animal chip AI backing you, and your cloaking screen up in a massive free for all just begs for the MMO treatment. Especially since it has one of the best ways you could implement micro-transactions I have ever seen..in the game, you "buy" music from a record store to load up in your mech and play, and it is some of the most excellent eclectic j-pop you will hear.
