Another vote for a Firefly MMO

As for books I'd like to see as a MMO, the Honor Harrington series. There's a large amount of source material from all 10+ books.

Honor Harrington was likened quite a bit to EvE by the guys at GWC.

Oh yeah, I do remember reading something about that a few years ago. Look like it's stalled or dead:

I'm going to go back a little more old school, but I can think of two old pen-and-paper worlds that would be rich with possibility for an MMO.

One is Gamma World - a post apocalyptic setting, but with large and vast amounts of mutated species, and incredible weaponry with which to kill them.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gamma_World

The other is Traveller - full sci-fi game system in the vein of Eve, with with military style backgrounds, and potential for both on and off planet adventure and trading.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Traveller_(role-playing_game)

Also, though they've been mentioned several times already, I can totally see something in the MechWarrior Dark Age setting working, and why someone hasn't already purchased the Shadowrun IP from Microsoft (who will never do anything with it) and isn't already working on that MMO is totally beyond me as well. Done right, both of these are a license to print money.

I would love for it to get the full-on RPG treatment. With EVE style territory conflict.

There's several i would love to see:

1 - A One Piece MMO.
That manga is simply awesome and the world is already fairly detailed.
It should have a power costumization similar to Champions Online/City of Heroes to replicate Deviil Fruit abilities.
It should have free-for-all PvP with the possibility of forming "pirate crews" (guilds) where everyone dished out against each other.
Another great thing it should is naval warfare and a lot of boat costumization, maybe a la EVE ships (small and faster ships, bigger and slower ships...).
Cool PvE would also be assured by having to fight against the Sichibukais, the World Government, CP9 and the Marines.

2 - An Harry Potter MMO is really necessary today. This IP is screaming to be adapted to an MMO. Just allow everyone create his kid and go around pew-pewing everyone with their wands.

3 - Battlestar Galactica MMO.
This one would be hard to translate to an MMO but it's so awesome...

Some other ideas seen here are also great.

BSG would probably be better off if the game was based off the first Human-Cylon war. Lots of humans, ships, and grunts still around. Plus they didn't have to flee their planets/systems yet. It would definitely make for a good Faction based MMO where each faction tries to take systems or defend them. Space battles with Battlestars vs Basestars, Vipers vs Raiders, and Raptors and Heavy Raiders trying to board the opposite factions capital ships with player troops.

I guess they could make a Star Wars Battlefront type of game with the above scenario too, but I'd much rather play very large scale battles.

I second One Piece. The world is so amazingly detailed compared to any other manga I can think of, and it would be a refreshing and interesting take on the genre (There have been pirate MMOs before, but PotBS is kind of meh and PP is kind of its own genre). Forget fighting the marines, can you say second faction?

Devil fruits could be like power-up items that make you completely overpowered but that you lose when you die.

A two faction system would also be nice, but i think i would prefer the mayhem of everyone being a pirate trying to beat the others. ;)

Glad to see i am not the only one with an eye on One Piece. But i don't loose hope that we will see a One Piece MMO in the future. Ttoday i just stumbled on this little Japanese/Korean MMO called Dragonball Online:

Awesome isn't it?

I think that a MMO based off of "The Borrowers" or "The Littles" would be rad. You'd play as a miniature person living in the walls and cellars of normal sized humans, crafting weapons from sewing needles and razor blades. You'd fight cats, and raid battles would be against full-sized people (like exterminators).

Think of all the zones that you could play, in just one city block.
