Thank you, Tateru, for publishing information about my tutorial :) I'd never expect it would appear on Massively! It makes me happy to see it here, and of course this way it'll reach more people.

I thought nowadays they called it "enhanced modeling"...

Hey Tateru,

Not to be completely "anal", but this isn't prim torture. These are just cool, standard shapes made into helpful one prim objects.

Most SL'ers would consider prim torture something that can not normally be completed without "glitching" a prim via use of Dimple.

How do you torture?... Lets say you want to make a really really thin rectangle (something that appears smaller than a 0.01)

You rez a sphere, set the dimples evenly (0.45, 0.55 for example) switch the prim type of the prim to cube and woot! You have a "glitched" cube that doesn't live up to the dimensions shown, making it in effect thinner in appearance. You can do this with any object type that doesn't organically use the dimple settings. Infact you can do this with other settings across other prim types with their own unique setting.

Just wanted to clarify that for you. Either way (to Ayumi Cassini) this guide is pretty sweet and helpful. Great for newbs and old time builders looking for a unique shape to add to a build.

Thanks!

Tigro, haha, that's hilarious :P

Mudbeed, I'm not sure which version of Second Life viewer you are using, but that Dimple trick you're referring to is no longer needed ever since Slice was introduced. You just put the very same values you mention into Slice fields, and the effect is the same. I remember using the Dimple trick, though :) Anyway, I'm glad you enjoy my tutorial :)

Mudbeed, I guess I'm not like most SL'ers, for me to torture a prim is to achieve an unexpected shape by tweaking prim parameters (potentially including prim type)

@ Tigro...Using default options readily available on a prim isn't torture. Look
up Torleys definition, and most other peoples. How can it be unexpected when they are options available to the prim? I guess I tweak around a lot, this guide just saves people a helluva time.

Either way, who cares...

It's a great tutorial, I like to see this stuff. I learned from blogs myself

Oh yeah, I use the standard SL viewer. Sometimes the First Look.

My name in SL is Johnny Mann

so for example, you don't consider the inside out sphere to be a tortured prim?
