That Aion picture is not very flattering to say the least.

In my attempt to find a couple unique images for this article, I grabbed screen shots from a compressed video on their homepage. Trust me, the game looks much better live on a remotely decent video card. :)

The grind is going to make or break this for me. I play on Chinese and after I hit 19 I quit playing. I just have no interest at my age, and playtime to grind away hours on end to level once or twice.

I want to get into the end game and pvp. If they are going to make the game a grind they need to make sure the game has the fun levels to sustain such grind. For me the mob types are too similar through out the game at lower levels, the fact I don't get any new "toys" every level and sometimes have to wait 3-4 levels, mixed with the speed of leveling I just find that the game isn't that fun.

Playing with a partner didn't help exp, maybe group grinding will be faster then questing solo/duo but at this point both he and I have gone back to daoc and decided against pre-order until we see, and play changes to the grind aspect.

I am glad people are waiting with anticipation for this game, I just hope they aren't disappointed when they find that there really isn't anything unique in the game. Flying, while "cool" isn't new. It isn't available in any places pre-abyss other then quest hubs and most of the area's you are in you can only "glide". The game just lacked inspiration for me. I hope for others they find it more fun, but I guess I am looking for something that sets a game apart from the other standard fare mmo's out there today.

Aion, like all MMOs, isn't for everyone. This one's for those that enjoy grouping and PVP. If you don't like either grouping or grinding to level, or if you don't like PvP, then you won't like Aion. 18-20 is the first level range when you're required to either group-quest or solo-grind (although there is a repeatable quest on each faction that you can do without too much trouble). I'm sure there's more periods like that later on.

More quests and content is added also in the current Korean version that we haven't had the chance to play yet in beta.

Gliding is actually quite useful when you find the two buttons that control up and down. Their default location is R and and F (or V) but I changed their key mapping for up and down on my numeric pad and that works better for me. Until I found this out I though gliding was pretty lame too, but you can go quite some distance with the up button..

oh come the fuck on! why does NO ONE ask them about botting/cheating and how/if they are even going to fight it? no interview i read so far has a mention of this huge problem...
