Almost as if they could read our thoughts, Fallen Earth LLC announced the game's release date just as we were wondering when said announcement would be made. The game will be made available at both retail and through digital distribution, although no mention was made of which services will be offering the game for download. Launch day is now set for September 9th and, come to think of it, really isn't too long from now.
Strangely enough, this happens to coincide with The Beatles: Rock Band's release date. We're sure there isn't too much overlap between people who love post-apocalyptic games and fans of the fab four. Then again, The Beatles fanbase is pretty huge and diverse, plus we're talking about a new Rock Band game.
Well, those of you who plan on getting both games could always blend them into your day. Jam on about your octopus garden and then shoot some ghouls in the face with a shotgun. Actually, that sounds like a pretty good day! Yeah, those Fallen Earth guys are onto something with this idea.

I've been watching some of the YouTube videos of the game...I really hope it turns out good...but the videos seem to show a game that needs work...hopefully they've done the work and improved it...too much competition in the MMO market to drop the ball. I just played Aion this past weekend and though there isn't anything new there...the game is very polished and ready for Western release....I don't want to play one more MMO that is Beta quality at release...Conan and WAR left such bad tastes in my mouth....

As the NDA is still in effect, can't say much, but crafting is a large part of game. Fallout it is not. Comparing it to AoC or WAR as other poster said is right on the money. Has vehicles, but some take more than a week (out of game) to make.

Having been in beta for ... ever, I can say that with this date, I'm leaning toward confident that the launch will be decently stable. However, this is the quintessential rushed launch in that they've already said that they'll be putting some content off until post-launch like player housing, passenger vehicles and a whole slew of lesser stuff. There's a lot of discontentment regarding variety/customization and combat gameplay/physics. I haven't been on the forums since the announcement, but I bet it's bussling with a ton of anger with a dash of fanboi.

I've been looking forward to this game for a while, but from what I'm hearing, it's really rough around the ages.

I tried the stress test beta a while back, do they really think they're ready for a September release date?

I will be the advocate for those that think an electronic NDA has any weight. Note, i am not in FE beta, but i have accidently seen and watched many beta folks comment on the game.
First off, Fallen Earth is going up against AION in the release window in sept. Anyone playing Aion know its been out a while in other countries for a while now and is getting milked here in the states, why AION is in beta is more a pr stunt than anything, i say this for the record. Fallen Earth on the other hand needs alot.....alot of work, from quests to graphics to simply making an avatar. From a passing glance it appears the game was found in a box from some 1980 developer yard sale and they went from there, but thats just my passing observation.
Fallen Earth needs to release, if they plan on releasing, on a month nothing else is being released to gain as many clueless folks as possible.
And i just know the developers of Fallen Earth will in no way commit fraud by making such statements as "the game is ready for release in sept and will satisfy the subscribers paying a fee"
However, i think if the developers make a truthful statement such as "Fallen Earth will be released in sept, unfinished, and will require many massive patches in addition to player feedback to help get the game up and running and stable during the next 6 months or more and we are hoping for subscribers to pay fees during this time"
Thank you for your support. Good luck to all games releasing in September.

Comparing Fallen Earth to Aion is a little like comparing heavy metal to mainstream pop. They're both music, but their audience is completely different. Their fans would never understand each other or meet eye to eye.
I'm not seeing a whole lot of overlap in their target audience.

@Aganazer - To be more specific, it's like comparing a local high school heavy metal band to, let's say, Rihanna.
You can go watch the local high school heavy metal band play, but it'll someone's backyard, maybe a graduation party. They might lose power and the cops will probably come and these guys definitely could have used a few more months of practice.
If you go to a Rihanna concert, you're probably going to get a much more finely tuned experience. Sure, you might hate Rihanna music and there's bound to be a bunch of jerks who you think don't really "know music" there, but the sound system will be top-notch, all the backup musicians and dancers are pros that have practiced for years, and overall its obvious that a lot of time and money (corporate money) went into this show.
As to which one is better, that's up to you. But Fallen Earth needs to practice and learn some new songs.

double9s' analogy is damn near perfect.
Fallen Earth.. is not going to be a commercial nor critical success. Some people will enjoy it, of that I have no doubt - plenty of people are already enjoying the beta. But there is no way that a month and a half's more work can turn this game into something that will receive broadly positive reviews, or sell lots of boxes and actually maintain subscribers.

I've seen some videos of the game in action, and I must say that this game is nowhere near finished. If they release it in the state that it is currently in, it is meant to be a quick cash-in. Seriously, don't buy this at release or you will be very disappointed. The game needs another half year to a year of development at the very least.
It will be the same fail-story all over again.

Yeah, this is not going to be pretty. My condolences to those with a financial stake that will negatively affect their families as well as those who have no doubt spent a lot of long hours and creative juices on something that will, in my small opinion, appeal to very few.
Now if the real fallout mmo can please stand up?
