Why do you have to go around destroying all of nature in LOTRO when clearly thats contrary to what Tolkien was writing about?

Most of the regular animals you kill are being gathered for food, clothing and so forth. A large amount are also "infected" in some way or posing a certain risk.

I think killing things just to do so would be another story. The game has random fauna running around that don't pose any risk and only attack if they feel provoked. there's even a quest later on that gives a different reward depending on if you kill a group of animals or not.

I think they're handling that fine.

"Skinning a bear should aggro every bears
in a 40 yard radius. It makes sense, you are actually skinning their best friend. "

This sums up LoTRO pretty good. Kill all bears, boars, birds, and wolves...ever.

That's a trick question. All fantasy games have killable bears. Non fantasy on the other hand...

I sure as hell hope he made it out alive. The title he's wearing is from a deed in a level 48 dungeon, so he's at least that level. And the bears in that zone are level 38. So he ought to be able to take on at least twice that many with little effort.

I know that spot! There's a sort of hollow full of these crazy aggressive bears, where you need to go in to retrieve some stuff off of the bodies of some tomb raiders that fell.

There is a 'Hey there are way too many bears in this area close to town, halp' quest, but I mostly remember that one because these dudes had run off with some statue and the rangers were peeved. I think. Anyway. Evendim is pretty but that lake is such a time sink to swim all the bloody time.
