Fifty bucks isn't chump change in this economy, but it's what Aventurine is asking as the price of admission to their new North American Darkfall server. If you want in you need to purchase a brand new account, and that brand new account is the price of a brand new game.
But, you get to play in a server that's starting from scratch. Everyone is once again on the same level, the cities were open for capture (briefly, then they all got taken,) and the mystery of the world has been re-opened. Aventurine has thrown down many fixes since the original launch, leading some people to call the EU server the "paid beta" while the NA server is the "true launch."
What we want to know is what are your feelings, Massively readers? If you play Darkfall, have you gone over to the new server? Why or why not? Are you waiting for the transfer after three months? Even if you don't play, would you switch servers if the new server came with a 50 dollar price tag? Or would you jump onto Darkfall just to be in the new NA server?
Comment away!

I'm waiting for Mortal Online. Adventurine has shown they have no regard for their player base (and the game itself is sorely lacking in a lot of areas.)
The day they opened preorders for Mortal Online I grabbed that rather than give AV another $50 of my money.

This lot really know how to please their customers don't they? Why would anyone be dumb enough to be treated so badly.

i was astonished when this was announced, and pretty pissed. I has quit darkfall a few weeks before they stated the launch sate for NA and was considering coming back. after i thought about it though, most games you would have to buy a different client if you were NA and wanted to play in EU, so really im the end its pretty standard. I think the problem was AV never stated that you would have to buy a new Client, and most people where assuming you would be able to just roll a new toon with zero issues, so it really comes down to AV not being clear on what their plans where. Not that its a big surprise. They need to hire a few really good marketing people and let the devs develop software instead of try to both market and develop.
What really threw me was in the original announcement they stated that transfers from EU to NA would be paid, but from what i understand that has changed.

Lets see take 50.00 of my hard earned money and give to a game that sucks the sweat of dogs balls that is coded by an arrogant tool who hates gamers. Or I could take that money and spend it on a quality game like Champions Online or Aion
Hmmm what should I do? /saracsim

Aventurine has really shown that they don't know how to develop, manage, launch or run a product. Every stage of this game so far has been a massive joke, and it is basically a case study for how to fail at MMO development.
What if WoW charged $50 (or you had to buy all the expansion packs) for every server you wanted to log into? Yea, that wouldn't fly so well.

They actually do. It's not a case of moving servers its about moving regions. IF you wanted to play on a EU server you would have to buy the game and all expansions again.

Lol it always amazes me when people feel like they have some sense of entitlement when it comes to games.
Darkfall should be happy they are even being allowed to transfer from one region to another. I'd kill to be able to do that for WoW.
ALMOST NO MMO'S ALLOW YOU TO DO THAT. So really wtf are Darkfall players crying about? Oh i forgot they are all crazy anyways.

Yeah i don't think the fans are bitching about the US server coming out. It's that they stated from the begining they had no intentions of creating a US server and would allow everyone to play on the EU server. Which is why everyone jumped to the EU servers as soon as they were released.

I purchased an early copy of DF and when I did it at the time AV still had not announced what the policy would be for switching over. In that regard I do not hold it against them because it is not like they said it would be a free switch then changed it on me. I will not however be buying a second copy just to play on a NA server. Its a horrible business decision and I will not add to it by adding my 50 bucks. If they choose to run their business this way they will do it without my extra 50 bucks and without my monthly 15.
I will instead take the money I was going to give them and spend it elsewhere, perhaps MO. Their pre-sale had some issues but business is all about adapting to the market. In the last month MO has communicated more and updated their website more then DF has in the last year so that gives me some hope.

I'm a DF player from launch, and from the EU.
DF's latest round of patchs have really improved the game for the better, and its most certianally no-longer a paid-beta.
As for the NA server, and having to buy the NA copy if you've been playing on the EU, then im sorry, but this is your own fault. It was always billed as a EU launch - always.
I should remind you all that If i was to buy say, World of Warcraft EU, and then wanted to play on a US server, id have to go buy it - again. Same with every other MMO, and DF simply follows the trend.
Besides, for those that do enjoy the game and do wish to move, wait for the transfers, rather than buying it again!

Thankfully someone on this site with brains.
Everyone jumps the gun before they get facts. They are not money grubbing... they are just functioning like every other company when they open up their MMO in another country.
As for the initial launch was shitty, but the NA one so far has been extremely smooth.
The thing about Darkfall is, if you don't have time, you will not enjoy the game. You have to play a lot to compete.

I have to completely disagree that it is no longer a paid beta, it's still a paid beta or worse. The experience of jumping into Darkfall is like slamming your face against a brick wall, popping a ball of tinfoil in your mouth and chewing on it until your tongue bleeds and you pass out from the severe pain it gives you. All of this is made worse by their 0 customer support and lack of response to inquisitive gamers about the reasoning for the state of the game vs. projected information on the gaming populous. They don't even take emails sent to their direct company support email of which is one of 3 links and 2 pages their company site consists of.
Run from this game, especially if your mind plays the "maybe it's not as bad as people think" trick on you. They were very very VERY right.

I guess I'm the only person that knew that they were going to launch NA servers, and waited. I have yet to play the game but, I just got done with the download, and about to purchase it. Hopefully it's good!

Rolled NA-1 on Monday. Happy to be here. My ping was 200 on Eu-1 (playable) and is now 50 on Na-1. Good stuff.
I'm excited to start fresh in what I think is one of the greatest mmo's ever.
EU-1 had some really great fights and drama that I look forward to seeing in North America with all of us having low pings and more of the people that have been waiting for NA-1 to try this game.
Don't listen to the whining... this is one of the greatest pvp games ever, come get some.

@grutzmek - It's not for everyone, its only for a small percentage of MMO players at best. Ive got friends who say the same, (mainly those who Play "WoW" type MMO's) - however for me who's always played these sort of games, its perfect :)

Just to clarify for the curious, such as myself:
So was this game launched as an EU thing only, a beta launch, or was it sold as the 'full thing'?
If I remember they were trying to limit the players by not actually selling more copies than they could deal with, but people kept screaming for more. At least that was the impression.
