One of the things that's nice about being in a beta is the community. In the early days, you're much more likely to find a cooperative community all working together to find bugs and report them - at least when compared to an open stress-test type situation. Of course, those friendships in early days can often form into guilds that last well beyond those early days. Speaking of betas - today we have an interesting screenshot from Aion showing a lush jungle-type area. Gleb of the guild Aegis writes in with his thoughts: This sums up how beautiful Aion is. I had a blast this weekend and will certainly be playing at launch.
If you've captured a screenshot of an area we haven't seen yet - or maybe just a different perspective on one we have - then send that screenshot in! One Shots is all about reader contributions, so we need to hear from you. Just email your images, thoughts, name and the rest to us here at oneshots AT massively DOT com. We'll post it out here for everyone to enjoy.

The SS is kinda bad but it's not the game, it's more the screenshot and probably the system. In-game that area is very good looking. Hell almost everywhere you look the game is good looking.
Game has got the eye-candy and it doesn't kill most systems either. To bad Warhammer didn't use a similar engine.

Picture's not that bad. Looks a lot like WoW though. So much hype on this game makes me skeptical -- can't help but think of Darkfall whenever I read anything on it. Only time will tell.

How is this game? Do you just have to kill your way to the cap, or is there a steady flow of quests (and story) that you can ride?

Nice, I know that place! Its Ungoro Crater right?!
Please, the game is a horrible cookie cutter WoWannabe. Take WoW and Guild Wars and merge it together. Their is absolutely nothing the game brings to the table that is new or enticing. The character cusotmization is rich and the characters are nice and detailed. But thats where it ends. The game is a glossed over world of warcraft enviorment. I mean like guild wars gloss. Thats it. The combat is slow and simple. Character development is pathetic and limited and so is the crafting.
You'd be lying to yourself if you tried to say this game was anything more. You'd be just another FF11 fanboy who refuses to admit the hype was wrong and your game is nothing like it was hyped up to be. I will admit that WoW was great in its hay day, but just like EQ1 it is dated, though unlike EQ1 it is also watered down and bent to the will of its most nagging minority of cry babies. If your looking for games with depth and promise try a bunch of the overlooked ones out atm, like Warhammer, EvE, and EQ2. Warhammer has one of the most dynamic and fun PvP systems I have ever used, the graphics are pleasent and the lore and quests are quite fun. EvE has the harshest most time involved system out to date, its world is the largest in existence for an MMO and its clientel are ruthless. EvE is not for the faint of heart. EQ2 is probably the most overlook MMO out currently, it has one of if not the most robust lore and quest system out, its crafting system is very similiar in scope. I could not explain in enough details how good EQ2 is compared to every other MMO, at least PvE wise. If you like PvP i recommend Warhammer.
New and upcoming games that may offer you a bastion of NEW. I can say Fallen Earth looks one of the most promising. Keep an eye out though. Newer games are on the way with promise of surpassing the old. ^_^

Why be so cynical? What's your agenda? It is not as though many people will read through your wall of text and think "oh, sweet Jesus, he's right!"
WoW takes heavy elements from other games and adopts it as its own as do many other games including Aion.
If every game had to reinvent the wheel, then we would end up having a pretty shitty MMO selection.
So please stop spitting bullcrap and hoping people care.

WoW is now the Simpsons of MMOs. No game can have anything in it without the drooling ignorant masses screaming "WoW did it! WoW did it!" "Look that game has the color green in it! It's SOOO ripping off WoW".
I played the Aion beta and it's a solid, fun game. Quests are cool and very story driven. It's kind of linear until lvl 25 where you can go to the Abyss and PvP becomes a major part of the game. XP can be gained in PvP as well as "Abyss Points" which can be used to buy armor, weapons, wing upgrades etc. etc. Game is also gorgeous with low system requirements ans virtually no lag even with 100+ players on screen.
More quests are being added for the NA/EU release so it will be soloable via questing to max lv which is 50. Loads of dungeons are being added as well so make PvE a viable option compared to the PvP.
