Yo NetDevil - market to me when you actually release or at least hit beta. Until then, keep your lore to yourself.

MMO pre-release hype is getting old. Let Massively focus on the stories of products we can actually play or play soon. So that goes the same for all you other MMOs trying to build hype about your game that isn't nearly ready for shipping.

You know who is doing it right? ArenaNet. Almost everyone has forgotten that they are working away on Guild Wars 2. They feel no need in hyping their game, but when it does hit - its likely going to blow everyone away and be available to buy in a short timeframe. That's going to get them a lot of money.

The problem with a company like NetDevil, expecially now, is that the new news about Jumpgate is getting less and less exciting. Who cares what lore the game has if you can't play it. Save that for a month before shipping then release some new tidbit every day for 30 days and launch with a huge bang. That's good pre-marketing.

I like your idea about the 30 days of tidbits up until launch. It doesn't have to be just lore or even anything too groundbreaking, like it could be "You can choose which color your lasers are". I assume that's not true, but it just came to mind as something small but still fun. Just come up with 30 interesting little facts about your game and release them in your news blog every day up until launch. It would go a long way towards keeping people thinking about the game (positively) in that last stretch before launch.

Good thinking.
