There is more than a whiff of fallout 3 about it isn't there...Raiders with mad hair? Although, more grass in that trailer than in the entirety of Fallout 3. I guess avoiding comparisons is hard.

Creative marketing. Keep in mind this game's focus is primarily on PVE, nearly 90% of the content is such, with only a very small amount of gaming surface dedicated to PVP content. You'll spend more time on your knees sifting through garbage than anything else.

This game has been in development for a looooong time. I wont bet on it, but I think that it was already in development when there was no Fallout 3 yet.
In any case, the setting lends itself to some cyberpunk looks a la Mad Max

In a world where most players think WoW invented all standard MMO conventions, I'm not surprised people think Fallout 3 invented post-apocalyptic styles.

The similarities extend quite a bit further than just being post apocalyptic...The raiders in this trailer could just as easily been fallout 3 raiders. Granted, that convention has been around a while, but it doesn't change the fact that people will draw parallels.

I'm trying so hard to not compare this with Fallout 3.

The game relies heavily on forced crafting. You want something better than the crap you start with you better start chasing radar nodes! You and every other noobie. I would wait a few days after release for the starting areas to clear out a little if you plan to buy this. Other than that its a pretty fun game, number crunchy sci fi like anarchy online, with slightly better graphics.
