NCsoft has just revealed another batch of class-centric screenshots for must-play MMO Aion. This time they're focusing on the agile Scout, specifically the sub-classes of the Assassin and the Ranger. Perhaps the nicest thing is the fact that the screenshots include both Elyos and Asmodian Daeva, including the particularly angelic -- but slightly menacing -- one you see above.
Assassins are, as their name suggests, crafty killers. Though physically squishy, they are, according to NCsoft, 'able to strike silently and with devastating consequences at vulnerable targets, effectively bringing down whole groups with a single action'. Perhaps the most interesting piece of lore suggests that Assassins have turned their backs on the deity known as Aion and instead 'follow the star of death for instruction'. Rangers, meanwhile, prefer to work alone or in teams, and possess 'finely honed survival instincts and the ability to endure even in the harshest of environments'. Weapons-wise, they use daggers, traps to snare their prey and are expert archers.
You can check out the images of the Ranger and Assassin in our Scout gallery below.

You know I am so sad they Carebeared the hell out of this game, What NCsoft originally promised is so far away from the Wowified crap we got. I actually had hopes for Rifting then the slayer system just killed all hope of forced PVP, and looking down the road its going to get even worse...Aion would be the game to beat if only it was full unrestricted PVP...but the carebears win...every single time.

Yeah it's real sad that instead of having one or two servers of four or five hundred sociopaths, we will instead have several full servers with a diverse community that is very reminiscent of the FFXI community.
NCsoft wanted this game to succeed and playing to gankers isn't part of the plan, but don't be sad you have Mortal Online and Darkfall to go to, and if you really want a Korean game there is LII.

NO, they arent crafty, they will be seen by the npc a small percentage of the time, even if coming from behind, an npc 3 levels or higher forget it, the npc aggros before you can perform any opener. Positional attacks do little damage, its a crap shoot to see if you get the good "imaginary roll" to go along with your positional suprise combo attack, most of the time you might as well charge and suck on some potions.
"Devastating consequences on vulnerable targets" the only consequence will be you wondering why your assasin hits like a *cough* girl. Nothing more irritating than seeing those small slivers of damage from your suprise attacks most of the time. and a 2000 DP point mega skill attack?, dont waste your time, your regular attacks do much much more damage.
They need lots of work. Must be the Beta in Beta.

God I hate you Carebears I hate you so hard......Liking the Challenge of PVP doesn't make you a sociopath. I swear as God is my witness I will find a way to greif Carebears in Aion...I don't care if I have to use hacks, someone has to make a stand against Wussydom.

Incredible. The game hasn't even released yet and people are already posting QQ posts EXACTLY like what's found on the WoW forums.

Oh wow. NCSoft "reveals" more classes that can be easily read about online already. I get that Massively needs news stories, but this is not news. Heck, it is not even news from NCSoft - it is hype.
What would be news to the people who still don't know that Aion as been available for months and months overseas is a full rundown of all the classes in detail with pictures.
That's right Massively! You can scoop NCSoft on their own bullshit "reveals" and just get some screen caps from the asian versions of the game and use Google Translator to get the details on each class AND even interview some players who have lots of experience in the game on each class.
I love the fact that there was a NDA for the US betas with a game that all the gameplay is public knowledge if you just look.

Well, since I am not following this game closely, it was "news" to me and thus mildly interesting. (Although the accompanying picture, like all Aion "wing" pictures, looks so "pretty" and "frilly" I almost want to gag.)
Perhaps "reveals" was a poor choice of words in the article title for a game that has been out in the open for so long already. However, the game is only now going "public" in North America/Europe and the NDA in those areas has only lately been lifted so, in that sense, "reveals" doesn't seem quite so out of place.

I gotta say I'm a bit disappointed. Hopefully there are far more interesting class abilities that I have yet to read about, because all of these descriptions sound like the same old stuff I've seen a dozen times before.
