We're not aiming for more coverage of WoW on Massively -- we just want to be sure that when there is big news that may be of interest to the general MMO audience that we get it up quickly, and without simply duplicating work that we already have writers doing on WoW.com. The easiest way to accomplish both of these things is to simply use WoW.com's content, and let Massively's writers focus on covering other games.

This week on WoW.com is about all you need. I want real news, not news on WoW promo's, drinks, exclusive in-game pets, and the other trash that place spews out about the game constantly.

Agreed...for me, a WoW-less world is a happy world.

On behalf of WoW.com, we won't be flooding you with every little piece of news. We'll be very selective about what we put here.

Alex, sadly it appears Weblogs Inc. has decided to tote this addition has a valuable feature, despite what most of the Massively readers are saying in the comments here.
Those with an interest in World of Warcraft simply go on WoW.com, those who do not have one, but do have an interest in MMOs and *don't want to be bothered with frequent WoW-related articles* stick with Massively.
WoW is already all over the place in MMO news, no need to step up and annoy us with stuff we're not interested in.

The only real problem I see with this, is it getting out of hand in 2 ways.
1: Massively flooded with WoW fans to defend their game from critics.
2: So much news about WoW that it eclipses news about every other MMO, and makes the front page fill up with new articles every 3 hours.
Massively already seems to cover a lot of games and gamer issues. Unlike those who use RSS feeds I still visit the main page and it is already difficult to keep up with the current number of articles each day. This may make browsing the Massively site a bit top heavy for those who do things the old fashioned way.
Otherwise, it's a good idea for getting more readers and traffic on the site.

I always felt Massively NOT featuring WoW news was a bonus.

I agree.
I searched for a long while to find an MMO news site that I enjoyed reading. They all were either 90% dedicated to a game I already quit(WoW), or 90% dedicated to games I'll never play(the millions of korean and chinese mmos that flood mmorpg.com)
Massively has been perfect, and I don't like the looks of what I just read.

I don't visit wow.com because i'm not that interested but i appreciate quality news about wow as much as every other mmo's.This is a good thing.You are not too cool to not read anything about wow.

I understand Joystiq's vision in consolidating their disparate blogs but I really think Massively does not need posts from WoW.com . I used to read that blog when I used to play that game and frankly I appreciate the fact that I dont have to read every bit of news from WoW on Massively.
That being said and the WoW folks stating that they will be selective in what they bring over, I will not complaint(not that it matters, except maybe make me feel I protested).
I really however want a separate feed which is how I mostly pick and choose to read regarding my stories.

@UltimateQ:
I love the drama stuff too... but they go overboard with the mundane EVE posts here, IMO.
@Wjowski:
No - actually it's because they have a lot of EVE fanbois on staff - check their "what we're playing" posts some time. There are lots of MMOs worth discussing if you actually bother to look.

Not thrilled with this news either. But it's their site and if it gets too bad, there are other places for me to go to for MMO news.
Shame though. Remember when every other post was about Second Life? Then they limited those and it enhanced the site quite a bit (imo).
I'm not a WoW hater but I do think the game has plenty of coverage already, and I'd rather see Massively covering 'all the rest' and sticking to that.

Seconded, Thirded, Fourthed -- whatever we're up to by now.
No WOW.com feed in Massively.com
That's a terrible idea. If people want to read WOW.com news, how freakin' hard is it to punch wow.com into your browser?
It's 7 f'ing characters and the enter key. I think people can manage. Seriously considering pulling Massively.com off my RSS feed if this happens.

Reading major news about WoW once in a while would be nice. Not everyone plays the game or cares enough to read a blog dedicated to it, but an occasional big thing can be interesting to read, just like about any other MMO that you do not play.

It's a good idea. It's kinda dumb to be an MMO site without covering the biggest MMO because its the biggest MMO. They already said they would be selective. Hell, SL is covered and that is just a glorified chat room. :P

I'd rather view the sites separately, to be honest. I play WoW, and I enjoy getting my WoW news from WoW.com and my other MMORPG news from you. This addition will be very redundant for me.

It isn't a petition yet, but still...
"/signed".
While I certainly don't mind reading original quality articles about wow, I certainly don't need redundant sources, overflow of material about a single game, let alone a horde of fans blabbering about it. Please, leave wow.com articles in wow.com

I understand how this makes business sense, but I think it's a bad idea. Those of us who read both sites will now wade through more double posts. Not a good thing.
