I feel like Massively already adequately covers any WoW news, so I don't really see the need for this. If you care enough to get all the Warcraft news that is happening you are probably already reading WoW.com (I for one am) or you could easily start; clicking a link from this page is not that tough.

We're not planning on increasing WoW coverage -- just changing the source of it. It would be silly for Massively to have as much WoW coverage as WoW.com does, but there's the occasional larger bit of news that's of interest to the MMO community as a whole. That's what we're interested in integrating.

If that is the case it sounds like a good idea. Just so long as the stories you pull aren't of the stupid 'WoW Movie Watch' or 'One Boss Enters' variety. I don't feel like those contribute a whole lot to my enjoyment of WoW.

Makes sense and, even though I don't play WoW, I'll enjoy reading those WoW posts here.

It's kinda funny, and sad, though that people always have to apologize for the WoW community - even on their own sites. ;)

I feel Massively doesn't need to cover WoW at all (save for the "this week on WoW.com" type of posts) since it has it's own domain; I've always come to Massively to hear about other MMOs that are usually overshadowed by WoW's rather huge presence. Let's hope it doesn't change.

As long as it doesn't get out of hand. If I really cared about WoW news I would be going to wow.com.

If I wanted to read WoW news I would go to WoW.com.

I appreciate the fact that there is only slight WoW coverage on Massively.

If every other post I see here is WoW related, you're losing this set of eyeballs. (hear that advertisers???)

No worries, this will definitely not be every other post. Just the occasional bit of bigger news.

So are you going to have a feed that filters them out for your RSS readers? Being already subscribed to WoW.com's RSS it will be just redundant feeds I'll have to scan through.

Heh, yeah, right.

The only reason they are doing this is to increase page views.

Absolutely – for example, a WoW.com reader who also reads Massively via RSS wouldn't want the duplication.

Tim: Despite what your cynical predisposition might have you believing, it's not always about the pageviews. Our mandate for Massively: be the best MMO blog on the planet. Sharing WoW content with WoW.com is one step towards that goal. If being the best means earning pageviews, well ... then, the business model works.

Chris, you say that as if Massively and WoW.com aren't sister sites belonging to the same organization; there's really little logic in duplicating content the way you announced it, else than to increase page views for announcers. I don't say this to be cynical, let's just be forward about it.

@Christopher Grant: More blog in this blog then, imo. Right now this is a decent news site to find a lot of MMO news all in one place, but it lacks a certain level of originality and personal content.

In a way, pasting news from another site just serves to reinforce what a lot of people here are saying even if it would improve the coverage of this site.

Blegh... I'll reserve judgement until I see how over-covered it is.

Maybe this will help dilute the absolute deluge of EVE posts that we're fed here. :P

We do seem to get a lot of eve news on here. I don't really mind it all that much though, I do enjoy hearing about some of the drama that goes on. Such as Bank Scandals, assassinations during a tournament and things of the like.

The reason we get so many Eve posts is because it's one of a bare handful of MMOs worth talking about.

This please. I come here to read about MMOs I don't know much about. I know more about WoW than I care to.
