I wonder how well this is being monetized. The whole concept has always seemed niche to me but then again the development resources needed to build and maintain Metaplace are probably comparably low.

I like Raph Koster a lot, and back when I was in the game development worlds I hung at a few roundtables and drinks after at a few GDCs. Metaplace is interesting, but it seems more like Second Life. So far, in the Metaplace worlds, I didn't really feel a sense of awe or progression or rewards really.

I look forward to see its future though.
