Do you plan on participating in the Aion beta this weekend? If not, you may want to reconsider, because NCsoft is offering a pretty amazing contest for those of you who decide to play. Here's the rub: North American players who log into the Aion closed beta this weekend (July 2nd to July 6th) and obtain level 3 are entered to win a trip to Seattle for themselves and a friend. This trip culminates at the Aion launch party at the Seattle Space Needle, where they'll also get to attend the PAX 2009 expo.
Pretty cool, right? We're sure that many of you would kill to get a chance to play Aion at all, let alone be entered into this contest. So make sure you get to at least level 3 if you're playing this weekend. You may as well if you're already going to play at all, right? And if you really want that beta key now -- but haven't had the luck to nab one -- preorder customers are given access to every beta event. You can find the page for preordering yourself a copy right here.

I've nabbed a beta key for Aion (and for free no less) but is this game really "all that" or just more of the same? I've intentionally stopped getting my hopes up for future MMO releases because I always get disappointed in the end, which is basically my fault considering I absorb way too much info pre-release.

I see us Europeans are forgotten again. First its a later release date than the US and now no ace competitions to win.
Not to worry, roll on launch day :D

Just another thing (cant edit)
Anyone explain what this is all about, taken from the terms and conditions of the comp:
"Canadian winners are required to successfully answer a time limited mathematical skill testing question, administered by mail in order to receive their prize."

NAC, but my understanding is that Canada has weird rules about these sort of contests. In the US you can win a million dollars just for pulling a tag off your cup of Coke at McDonalds. No effort, no skill required.
Canada requires you to actually do something. It's one of the reasons why Canada is left out of instant-win contests.

I enjoyed playing the first 2 beta event s so much I pre-ordered a copy of the game for my son. We always play MMOs together but was not going to pre-order 2 right off the bat.
For anyone out there that has been disappointed by past MMOs, like WAR and AoC, which I played both. You will not be disappointed in AION. The only way you get disappointed is if you are a person to find a fault in everytinhg, or just do not like themepark style games, or you are just a huge WoW fanboi and have never played anything else but WoW.
Now if you have played the china version and are like OMG that sucked, well of course it did it is an Eastern version. What NCSoft is doing to localize it to the West is Fing amazing.
Im glad more people aren't pre-ordering. They sold over 50K pre-orders and the 2 servers are pretty much packed all the time for the events. So stay away don't pre-order just wait till release!
