Instead they release (go gold) with the "most stable" test build, which you folks pay for and then patch it at release or much later. We need some serious motivation to stop this type of conduct assumption in the industry.
I will be checking the game out this sunday at my brothers house, since he wants to take the time to dl it, lets see how "extremely polished" it is according to the manager in charge.

This article is about how far down the update line the EU/US release will be, not how polished the launch will be.
