Does this mean they are rushing out APB and are going to cut corners to they can get back to their first project? I'm stoked to play APB but this worries me. Then again if APB sucks ass they are going to have a harder time selling their next MMO so it would be counter productive to rush it. Who knows........

Did they ever mess up there. So APB is not their real project that they care about, it's just something to fund their real ambition? Way to keep players away from APB. Of course, a monthly would also do that.

Suddenly, not as excited about APB.

It's not a good idea to announce you are doing another project when the first one has yet to ship. Plus, it makes people wonder how robustly you plan to support APB with a labor-intensive project being worked on at the same time, and both being your first experiences with MMOs.

I don't think they'll rush APB just to get funding for their "first choice" MMO.
I mean I'm sure they, and I hope every other MMO developer, has learned from Tabula Rasa and Age of Conan in the rushing games out department...
Plus they have 250 people working on APB so I don't think they view it as just a means to an end. While APB is a break from the norm, a fairly new innovation into MMO's (for the most part) I'm guessing their "first choice" MMO is probably quite a break from the norm and they would like to get APB up and established, making money to fund that project, which again I believe to be a BIG departure from current MMO's. That's probably why the went this route. Getting funding etc for the MMO they WANT to make is harder than making an awesome (in idea at least), but not completely genre breaking, MMO like APB. Look for a press release to this effect soon following this announcement. I have zero insider knowledge, just common sense.
Look at Bioware, they made KOTOR to get established and secure funding for Mass Effect and Dragon Age. I know, I know that's Bioware...but hey it's a good idea.
I hope this is the same type of move by Realtime Worlds.
