I am going to try it out (mainly because i already have a fileplanet subscription) but i think i would even if i did not. I have mixed feelings about this game, on the one hand the concept seems interesting and i am looking for some more twitch/non-level based mmos, but on the other the graphics just look awful.

So if i can try this out for minimal dollars (i am here assuming there is not going to be a full fledged open beta or some free trial upon launch) i will take full advantage of it.

FE has levels. it has no classes - big difference.

it has full multicore and multi-GPU support, though there are still some issues with SLI enabled.

other then that i cant speak for the masses...

Sorrie for my negative comment, but, although I would really like to be in the beta, the fact that I have to sign up for an account on Fileplanet turns me off. Why? Well like SOE, Fileplanet doesn't really understand that there are other continents then just America. I found this out during my period of paid subscription. So, although I think this will be one of my favorite MMO's that are currently available, I rather keep my money on the bank and wait for Fallen Earth to be officially released.

Bit off topic, sorry...

Now on topic, anyone know if there is going to be a collectors edition and what is in it?

Great game, only problem is ammo is too freaking scarce and expensive, leading to everyone out there running around with crowbars, knives and bats in the first 15 or so levels (which take a LONG time and allot of deaths to get through). You sometimes get ammo as quest rewards but as a staple of irony its usually ammo for a gun you either dont have yet or dont want to use. Same problem that anarchy online had with ammo at first. Say it takes 3 shots to kill a "Digger" which is a zombie sort of. Well you end up taking 4 shots to kill it cause you miss once, you loot the corpse and get 1 piece of wool that sells for 1 chip or can be made into bandages that sell for 3. The problem? each shot costs 3.7 chips (this is from a crossbow). Even if you have a quest to kill 10 diggers the quests only award 10 or so chips for completion. No matter what unless the player resorts to melee there is no way to make forward momentum financially unless you choose a playstyle that you possibly really dont care for. I have had my fair share of melee from wow, I want to shoot crap in the head!
Having huge turn offs like this at the start of a game will drive players away, I know it has a huge learning curve, I have played since friends and family alpha, but for a mmo to succeed these days it needs to appeal to the soft core players too. Seems like a minor detail, but when you play the game yourself you will see what I mean. Like when your parents gave you a dollar to go buy icecream but the icecream costs 1.50.

Dude, ammo is very easy to manufacture with just the junk you pick up along the way. It doesn't even tie up your character in a town. You can craft stuff while you are out fighting and playing. The crafting is quite extensive.

I'd like to try this out but not enough to sub to Fileplanet. Hopefully, there will be an open beta for everyone to take a look. Otherwise, I'll probably hold off until there's a free trial or I get *really* bored.

FYI, Fileplanet is NOT the only way to get into FE's beta. They have their own closed beta application.

You don't need a subscription, you just need an account. I have my key and am downloading the client as we speak...

Actually, if you notice at the top of the page it says "Now open to all registered users!" So while that is now true, it wasn't days ago when this post was written.

Thanks for alerting us to the change nevertheless.
