I would most definately play a friendlier version, I have played almost every FF game in existance except FF11, I did not have a computer when it came out and by the time I did..... the reviews were in and they basically stated that the non uber-hardcore need not apply.

I would love a solo friendly online FF! Sign me up already!

I think it is very unlikely that Square will copy the ubiquitous WoW style quests, if there is solo content it will likely follow the overarching plot and drive you towards group content.

I loved FFXI... though I couldn't help but wonder how people survived in a world where people couldn't step out of the capital cities without getting viciously molested by a cute fluffy bunny ^^

I will love it, as long as not everyone has elf ears, and as long as the interface is good, Thats what killed FF11 for me, It was too slow, play style not progress. And the crappy interface. Combined with bad art style.

I loved playing FFXI back when it came out. Played it for a good couple years before I got tired of it due to some gripes I had. One of my major gripes was how certain classes got hated on particularly the dragoon and sometimes the paladin which I loved playing both. For a time everyone wanted a damn Ninja tank over a paladin. I'm sure they hopefully changed the aspect of some of the classes to not have this happen as much but still while I was there it was a main thing. Very often I sat in Jeuno stroking myself shouting for groups both in english and translated text for hours and I mean hours. That to me is no fun. But as soon as I switch to another class that everyone and their momma wanted, I'm getting picked up like its nobodies business. That in my eyes forces you to play a class you may not like just so you can get any form of exp.

Another thing that got me was the XP lost. I don't mind dying on stupid stuff half the time but when I lose a few hours worth of XP after just one or two deaths, I just want to call it a day at the point and not play anymore since it feels like my time was wasted. I like to know the time I put into my character is not going to be wasted due to a few deaths.

But other than that I agree with some of the others with clunky UI, better crafting system and just overall revamp in terms of playability.

If Square-Enix wants this game to by anyone besides unemployed college kids they're going to have ratchet back the 19+ hour physically unhealthy raids.
